  • My advice would be to skip the HVX200 completely. The DVCproHD codec is pretty bad and has been much improved by Panasonic in the form of AVCHD. I'm now using a HMC 151 which is giving superior results. Check out Daily Motion and search for Danny Fontaine. I shot that music vid on the HMC just a few weeks back.

Just about to try out the latest Canon DSLR's...

  • Beautiful...Im still rockin' the dvx100b...Nice but I want that excact set up...hopefully this summer!!!

  • Just used this exact setup with an HMC-151 Panasonic. Much better picture quality IMO and better in low light.

    I sent you a link...

  • Hey, I just posted up a bit saying the same thing!!!

Yep, the codec stands up much better to colour correction and the like. DVCProHD is not great unless you're shooting in bright sun.

  • can you tell me which brand and configuration of your equipment? Rods support, follow focus, lens, ...

    Thank you

  • The rods, support, follow focus etc is all part of the SG Pro package. Just select what you need when you buy.

I would advise a better follow focus though, this one crapped out on day 1 of our major shoot and luckily we had one to replace it with. We now use a wireless Chrosziel which is much more solid and doesn't jog the lens when it starts and stops.

  • Finally finished this film...

Check Vimeo . com and then add this to the web address:

  • dude i just saw the trailer for yalls film. looks amazing!

  • Cheers, I pretty much just finished it, 8 months after shooting. Hope to have a screening in 2 weeks!

  • Yeah its nice but get a Zacuto Z riser on that thing, makes a world of differnce. Really helped my rig.

  • Just shot a feature on this.

  • can some one be as kind to tell me what the difference is between a lens hood and a matte box is? and Also, what is the mechanism that allows you to focus with that long wobbly thing... WOW i sound like a unseasoned rookie!! Thanks though!

  • A lens hood just shades the lens from stray light, a matte box holds filters or mattes that effect the picture.

Not sure what you mean by a long wobbly thing! The focus system is a follow focus box that works with a gear ring fixed to the lens.

  • Thank you!

  • That shit looks SO fucking SEXY!!

  • Nice looking rig. Whats the Matte Box you've hooked up? I have an almost identical rig and a matte box is my next purchase.

I'm interested to see how our footage compares - you with Nikon and me with Canon!!

I'll keep my eyes peeled for your future footage - Have Fun Shooting :)

  • It's a Vocas 250.

I'm shooting a feature on this setup in June, I'll post up some results soon!

  • Yeah, post them up. Also on shoot35 too.

lol i've been let down by the power system and have 3 units.

I look forward to what u can create! Good luck.

  • Not a bad setup at all. The SGPro is a great piece of kit and produces kick ass results.

I'm debating in getting at HVX or a EX1 for future use. When are you going to put up some example footage from you guys? It'd be great to see.

  • Of course we've done some test shots but only messing about with objects in the studio and ducks by the river. Once I have something worth putting Up I'll post it up!

I've been using the HVX200 for about a year and I find it, for the money, simply brilliant. The let down is the crappy power supply system and the focus ring, the variable resistor type. However with the Bebob remotes it does improve it a bit.
