God damn do i respect wilmington. Never has a team shown more adversity in my eyes. From the D-10 championship game against my alma mater (slippery rock) with that incredible overtime victory to showing the WPIAL boys from Quippa what district football is all about and finally to representing the better half of the state in the championship. There is no better team in the state, especially in OT.
i play for wilmington... #51 right tackle... but anyways, that D-10 slippery rock game was a pretty sloppy game for us.... but Slippery Rock was a completly different team from the first time we beat them..... i think we were expecting to run all over them but they came out fighting..... i kno i was shocked with that game... gotta hand it slippery rock on that game...
The 2008 PIAA Class AA Football State Championship Game was an Absolute Classic. It was the Greatest Game Ever Played in PIAA Football Championship History. This one will Last a Lifetime. Congratulations to the Wilmington Greyhounds and Head Coach Terry Verelli. You absolutely deserve it after waiting for 20 Years for First Ever a PIAA Class AA Football State Championship. Once Again, Congratulations and Good Luck Next Season. May God Bless You All and May God Bless America.
that game in all honesty was the greatest game in PIAA football history... but i got to say Wilmington (my school) played very well and fought hard to get this and no one can take that away from them. this is one of my favorite senior moments and i am proud of everyone on that team and god bless them.....
Congratulations to Coach Verelli and his team on a storybook ending to a great season. Wilmington beat West Catholic because of two things. Wilmington had better coaching and the Wilminton kids were more physically fit. Most of the Wilmigton kids played on both sides of the ball all season. The West Catholic starters were usually on the bench by the end of the 1st half because they were up by 4 tds early. The Shane Wagner run on 4th & 16 in OT was maybe the most clutch play in PIAA football ever
What you mean more physically fit. We were in the best shapes of our lives. Coaching lost that game not the players. In all seriousness if Maples had the ball on the last play we would won No one on Wilmington could stop him or even if they would have ran a different play.
alright u cocky bastard, why don't u try playing with kids that actually live in your school district, nobody from new york of new jersey. that has to suck that u cheat and still lose
that is true all the catholic schools from the east need to go back to their own devision and let the real football come from the west where all the blood sweat and tears come from not all the recruting player that already have tallent and dont have to work for anything these guys busted their ass just to make it to where they were they fought hard to get there and they didnt win because of bad coaching for west catholic if you watch the replay you can see the kid pushing the coach to let himrun
Zack Moss is the only hardcore motherfucker too ever come out of that school.
