"new competition rules"? i see you're from the UK, hmm... here it's always been that way, but usually they let you get back on and finish the course if you got mostly through it, or at least go over one fence, you know, for the whole confidence thing. but that stinks, sorry about your luck!

In Australia if you fall off no matter what part in the course you get disqualified. it's really very annoying, especially if it's the second last or last jump :P

yeah that's how it is here too. i just meant that they let you hop back up and go over a fence or two (if you're not terribly injured) just for confidence's sake, but you're still disqualified! definitely sucks.

does not matter the horse could still jump it. there was plenty of room. the horse just did not have enough heart or strength to make it over. the rider could have pushed on more. but it does not matter now because the event has happened. and nothing we say will change that.

but i can say that is a pretty horse! i hope the rider was A.O.K!

you wouldn't have come off if you hadn't been getting ahead. that refusal wasnt all thet bad, he didn't deek out terribly .. and you could have stayed on if you werent so eager to go over that jump. remember, just because you're up and heading towards it doesnt mean your horse will catch on to that and follow you! most of the time they'll do exactly what happened to you - their balance gets upset and they get scared and try to get out of it.
