  • She looks a LOT like Uma Thurman.. :)

  • 3 out of 4 of my favourite bands are Canadian. Arcade Fire, Metric, and Mother Mother are Canadian. Vampire Weekend isn't though.

  • What I don't understand is that everyone loves all this techno shit, when there's music like this that actually has talent and instruments. I really don't get it ._.

  • @Candiigalz Many true electronic artists have classical music training. They need to in order to understand how to actually write music. But I get what your talking about.

  • Simply amazing, I love Emily Haines for all her music and her voice and her

  • C:

  • Emily haines is simply awesome

  • i no longer like being american im running away to canada

  • No one should even ENTERTAIN THE NOTION of re-recording this song. The original is God in sound.

  • weird how i view this a year since it was posted

  • This video reminds me of salvia.

  • nice video edit and song, congrat!

  • how could someone dislike this song? it is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. they had to be death.

  • These are the people I want to be surrounded with when I'm gone...love your family, I wish my late brother was here too..

  • I wish I didn't drag anyone down...I have such forgiving parents and my mother has suffered a lot with my outbursts from my depression...God bless my family

  • this makes me cry a lot..I just celebrated my birthday and while I am thankful that I have a family that loves me, its hard when I feel I'm better off gone from this earth..I had to come up to my room to cry and this song, commensurates with my feelings..though no one in my family feels this way, I wish I still wasn't a burden at this age

  • @nothingsafe84 ,I'm sure who ever you are, nobody thinks your a burden.

  • @TheDemonofEmpireCity I do think I am but thanks I guess, if you meant it in a good way

  • @nothingsafe84 Of course I meant It.

  • canada we forgive you for justin bierber

  • My jaw literally dropped open - the female voice goes great with this song

  • I can forgive Canada for Avril Lavigne, Justin Bieber and Nickelback, all because of Metric.

  • They are weird but i love them!!!

  • I'm proud to call Metric my favorite indie group. ~<3

  • This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you, Emily Haines and company.

  • The matrix is everywhere

  • anyone else miss the deadline for that new metric album? dont worry its not their 5th one we've been waiting for for years. Just a remix album. Or was i the only one who knew about it?

  • the best cover Ive ever listened to.

  • heaven and canada are pretty much the same thing

  • @10yin01 Thank God and Canada for Neil Young!

  • @10yin01 Isn't Nickleback from canada?

  • @10yin01 Yeah, lot's of room, not so many folks. jk

  • I've loved the original version of this song for many years and to hear it done with such a beautiful female voice makes it even better. Though it's credited to Buffalo Springfield, credit goes to Neil Young who wrote and sung it while in that band.

  • the last few days i have been crying myself to sleep listening to this song... it makes me think of a girl... and when the babe part comes on tears just roll down my face...i really do love her but i rarely see her :(

  • @joshuaegan75757 hahahahahahaha classic!

  • @DaTSiKxGaming is that meant to be funny like? :/

  • @DaTSiKxGaming hahahahahahaha no but it made me laugh

  • The best ear sex you can get!

  • Magnificent!!! I've listened many times...I feel that pain of a deep love..having to let go..tears fall every time a watch this. Thank you for such a beautiful song!!

  • GREAT, BEAUTIFUL cover of an all time fave. Good on you, girlie!

  • Why such ignorant comments? Why can't both US and Canada enjoy the awesomeness that is Metric?

  • Canada produces fucking great bands.

  • @FallAndFail Canada doesn't produce great bands! They cultivate angelic, harmonious beings that can play multiple instruments in unison with space and time!!

  • @FallAndFail its cause canada is depressing

  • @FallAndFail Truest words I've ever heard.

  • @FallAndFail Except Nickelback

  • @FallAndFail except for justin bieber but other than that

  • she needs to have more songs like this. does anyone know of any?

  • dude... this is like soft skeleton... but not even close as good.... i have to say... as weird as she sounds, this song is still hauntingly beautiful

  • This video says, "Originally written and performed by Buffalo Springfield." Buffalo Springfield had nothing to do with this song. "Expecting to Fly" was originally written and recorded by Neil Young shortly after leaving Buffalo Springfield in the Spring of 1967, and then he basically gave it to them for their album when he briefly rejoined the band in August, 1967.

  • @BrokenChair88, if they were going to properly give credit it should be to Neil Young an Jack Nitzsche.

  • @CosmosOfBeauty Yes, and Jack Nitzche also produced Neil Young's first album, and played the piano for Crazy Horse from 1969 to 1971, and did the string arrangements on "A Man Needs a Maid" and "There's a World," and played the piano for the Stray Gators, and toured with Neil Young and Crazy Horse in 1986, and did the string arrangements on "Such a Woman." He also made the soundtrack for various movies, such as "The Exorcist," and "One Flew Over the Coocoo's Nest."

  • @CosmosOfBeauty He also did the theme music for the "Shakey Pictures" logo. And in 1963, he released a single called "The Lone Surfer." The B side of "The Lone Surfer" is a song called "Song For a Summer's Night." Actually, all together, Jack Nitzsche probably made a lot more music than Neil Young has made so far. But he is most recognized for his association with Neil Young, which compared to the work he did in his whole life, is actually very small. Jack Nitzsche resented Neil Young for that.

  • @CosmosOfBeauty In 1972, an awkward time for Neil Young as a cause of the fame that was thrown upon him by releasing "Harvest," plus the global success of "Heart of Gold," Neil Young told Jack Nitzsche that he was his only friend because he was the only person he could trust. In 1973, Jack Nitzsche ended up peeing on Neil Young's carpet. As Neil Young rose to fame, Jack Nitzsche became jealous. He felt like he, to Neil Young, was like Robin to Batman.

  • @BrokenChair88 Basically, it's his words or hers. Whatever you choose to believe. Personally, I feel Nitschze didn't commit the crime, on the count of their constant on and off relationship. As far as I'm concerned, it didn't end in 1975. You need to check your facts, boy.

  • @CosmosOfBeauty He felt like he had become a sidekick, which was apparently something he wasn't comfortable with being. Neil Young and Jack Nitzsche had a major fallout around 1974, and shortly after when Neil Young broke up with Carrie Snodgress, Jack Nitzsche began dating Carrie. Their relationship ended around 1975 when Jack Nitzsche physically assaulted Carrie Snodgress. Jack Nitzsche became an alcoholic. His last T.V. appearance was in 1997, on a show called "Cops."

  • @BrokenChair88 There is a question of weather or not Nitzsche raped Snodgress. Snodgress did press those charges, and Jack would fit the character of a guy to commit an atrocity like that. However, Nitzsche has always denied it. "Bullshit! I would never do that to a gun!" Nitzsche said as a retort to the claim that he held her at gunpoint and raped her. Plus, Snodgress dropped the charges saying, "I felt terrible about the whole thing...".

  • I'm gonna be honest, this so is so beautiful. It makes me cry like a big fucking baby. I love this verson as well as the original version, they're both amazing in different ways. -3

  • My soul... it cries by listening to her voice sing that.

  • It's like a salvia trip on film. Absolutely gorgeous!

  • @AlmightyScubba ...a bit more like an endorphin trip (got the idea while riding my bike) - but thank you for the kind words...

  • I'm amazed at the comments here. This is a beautiful Neil Young song performed by an admirer. Whether you like this version or not should not be debated or expressed. Music is sapposed to soothe and heal the human spirit. If you would like to debate health care or political affiliations, go to an appropriate video. This is music, plain and simple. Enjoy.....

  • It feels like I'm watch a 3D film, without my 3D glasses on. Great cover.

  • @aconradful I'll bet our healthcare that you most certainly do not.

  • @aconradful But... 57 people agree with me! So neeeeah! Haha

  • neil young is legendary...amazing cover! he should be proud!

  • @MelsAndEmy sooooo jealous!

  • Soulful <3

  • @t3hplatyz0rz Canada is heaven.

  • @BrettWieckhoff

    If you like being cold...

  • @AlmightyScubba Only the mighty can survive Canada!

  • @BrettWieckhoff

I'm a different kind of mighty, I spent a month in the jungle, ate monkeys, snakes and crickets, and drank blood from a decapitated cobra.

Canadians are bad ass too, but I belong in the searing heat.

  • @AlmightyScubba You win.

  • @BrettWieckhoff I sweat constantly, I think I need to move to Canada

  • I feel like Emily covered this song just for me...

Syke. Lots of good things came from Canada (Metric, Tokyo Police Club, Steve Nash etc)

  • Hey There is good stuff from Canada... Metric :D

  • YAY! You guys are the most amazingest band ever! Haha that comment makes me sound really stupid, but its still true! : D

  • Is that the violin intro from 'P.S. I Love You' at the beginning?? (Not the film but Sinatra's version of the 1934 jazz song.)

  • Was the beginning of the song, the ending of Gimme Sympathy? Dun dunn

  • I don't like this new change that Metric is going through... it's just not THEM and too much of them trying to be like everyone else! *sigh* sad I used to LOVE them...

  • I favorited this before I listened. Does that make me a fangirl?

  • @oxPeaceLoveMusicox I did also, does that make me a fanboy? I think so ma'am.

  • So much better than 'All Yours.' Their music is nostalgic and beautiful. Love it.

  • Dont kill me over this but...... Im not to wild about this song

  • @GrantgJackson

Yeah same here. I mean, I love Metric and I love Emily's voice to death...but.. -shrug-

  • @GrantgJackson well it is a cover, so not exactly their song anyway.

  • Best band ever! Emily's voice is so beautiful <3

  • legalize weed

  • metric should continue to change their sound. It is important to keep things diverse as they always have. Progression is a very valuable thing. it is also not their own song.

  • @alexguy95 ever listened to emily's solo work? it's more in this vein.

  • Great Song! Calm voice, that makes you to look inside your soul, and may be a bit better understand Emily.

Also the video is great! Looks like old one, but made in a modern way.

  • Sus videos son cada vez mejor, y que decir de la musica, muy buena

    <3 Metric

  • This is horrible. i wish they would have kept with their original sound. But this is crap. Sorry to you overemotional young listeners out there.

@Randymyr: you can fucking have them.

@Demon35: I can think of about 100 things better than waking up and hearing this crap.

  • @shukaku Fuck off! Canada wants Metric

  • @Randymyr Everyone wants Metric ;D

  • @RacerLiv Canada wants metric more! :p

  • @shukaku But If thet stay in America they will become clinically obese to the point where they can't use their instruments. And we want more music from them.

  • @shukaku You can take Nickleback, Leave Metric to americas smarter, less violent, not obese older brother.

  • All i could think of while watching and listening to this video was that it sounded like classic rock,m and then it said it was originally by buffalo Springfield and i though AHA! i thought so.

  • Buffalo Springfield, great choice! nice cover ^^
