Pretenders is a pretty common AFL term btw, but I'll explain it. Pretenders are teams who hang around at the top of the ladder, but have no genuine chance of actually winning the flag. Ie. St Kilda last year. Let's not forget St Kilda's 10 game streak 4-5 years ago. They didnt make the GF that year either.

as for the 80 minutes comment AFL goes for 120 minutes + most players run from 10-20 km a game 25% of that sprinting
