How do you rest while hanging only with one arm on the bar like in 1:20? Because if i try resting with only one arm it's a lot harder than resting with two arms, but i think the way you do it is better because i've seen this in many videos. My question is: are there any tricks for this or do i just need time, or more training to master it?
@IamGOOB every single person uses their core when doing a pullup. It is impossible to start the pulling motion without involving your back muscles, including the lower back which includes the core.
crossfit pull ups arnt measuring back strength or arms its full body pull ups, just like a burpee isnt a pushe up, they just dont have another name for them
"The nature of training is thus. Whatever your max, there is a 12 year old chinese girl who does that for fun" Can't remember who said it tho lol. But it's true enough
I applaud your effort. Never coming down off the bar was a feat of strength in itself. You know, what you need is a good camera-man. If someone could have filmed you up close and at all different angles, it would have been cool to see. Great job...I'm impressed!
After weeding through the endless crossfit "pull up" videos, (and wearing out the left click on my mouse to mute the "Let the bodies hit the floor" music) It's refreshing to see a pull up video with ACTUAL pull ups!
the most consecutive pull ups i could ever do with out the hang resting was 26 that was when i was in 9th grade. just graduated last year can barely do 16 :/ lol
Dead hanging is probably the WORST thing you can do when doing chinups/pullups. This puts all the weight on your connective tissue instead of your muscles. Bad for the shoulders, elbows, tendons, ligaments etc. Trust me, DON'T do it it will only hurt you, and when your older you will not even be able to do one chin up because of the pain, despite how strong your muscles are.
impressive strength but theyre far from perfect form. in a perfect pull up your legs remain directly under your shoulders at all time, never swaying forward or backward
@bubbletea8888 lol if u can do better post it. If you dont think hanging hurts or weakens your muscles your a goof. if anything it proves his grip strength and forearms are well conditioned.
@brentsopel44 People with good grip are wankers. I don't want to do too many pullups in a row because my biceps are getting too big, so i try to limit them. But ofcourse I can do it if I wanted to.
@bubbletea8888 you are fucking retarded. pull ups arent a bulking exercise and primarily target your back. they most definitely arent making your biceps 'too big'
@telrick4 Well f*ck you too. I don't care what you read in a fitness magazine, too many pullups are making my biceps too big. But ofcourse, for a beginner like you, go ahead make all the pullups you can.
@bubbletea8888 LOL. i actually laughed. exactly what do you mean your biceps are too big anyway? compared to your miniscule triceps? btw pull ups are not a beginners exercise. any exercise done properly is difficult, but I guess your huge biceps are just making them too easy huh
@telrick4 If you do 50 reps of pullups, then you also have to do 50 reps of pushups, shoulder workout etc. to be proportional. the size of muscles has to be as follow: legs >= shoulders >= triceps >= biceps otherwise you will look like a retard. What's the point in doing 70 pullups? you are not becoming more powerful just more endurance, when is the last time you saw someone climp over a wall 70 times in a row? If you want to be powerful do muscleups, I teach you if you dont know how.
The official world record for most consecutive pull ups in this way is 232 in 36 minute on 19 June 2010, by Jan Kares (Czech Republic), at Hotel Mlyn in Karlstejn (Czech Republic).
MAN! this makes me feel like a weak shit! i can do like 6-7 pull ups or something, can you show us the days you train and how u get so good at pull ups,
I have seen guys who did 50 pull ups, but all of them did with a weird kipping.
Mad RESPECT. What's the most you have done without the hang-recovery? What you did was a CRAZY feat for sure, but obvious the lactic acid buildup would kill even more if that was not (slight) relief from the muscular tension. To think, some people can't even hang with two hands supporting their own weight, let alone on hand or actually doing a pullup! ha ha Nice work.
having the grip strength to be able to hang from a bar for almost 8 minutes is just crazy to me. inspiring vids. in the future how about posting a max effort muscle up attempt.
Love it!... but can I just ask, after doing something like this, when would be the next time you'd do another pull up? as in how much rest would you give yourself till you work your lats again... one day, two days etc?
damn man, the hang is just as impressive as the pull ups... what is your one rep max for weighted pull ups? if you know, some people dont do that, but i love the challenge
@rdscrpn1031 I've done 100 recently with no problems at all. Didn't use gloves. I prefer training my skin to become more tough rather than wear gloves to be honest.
@TheF0rtress dude all my life i worked without gloves and now i regret it because my skin on my fingers is very thick an my sensitivity is almost gone. greetings from romania. thanks for all the videos. thanks allot for the planche pushups tutorial
@TheF0rtress yeah that sounds pretty though, but no video is no proof, I think that 99 out of a 100 who read your message dont believe you did a 100, not to make you look bad, just my opinion
Nice, I'm the same way. I only started working on pull ups a month ago and it was hurting my hands a lot at first but I'm developing calluses and that's making it a lot more pleasant. I had never done a pull up in my life, was always too fat and weak previously, I can do 4 from a dead hang now, gonna keep working on it. 2 years ago I weighed 280lbs no muscle at all, now about 190lbs, still have a bit of fat on me but the majority is gone. :) (I'm 22 and 5'11 btw)
One of my 2012 goals is to be as strong as this guy in the video (not a feasible goal thanks to my genetic and slow metabolism) The most pull up I can do is 10 :(
@iaoin2009 slow metabolism has nothing to do with strength and hes not displaying strength here, its endurance, strength endurance. The only way youd know you had a slow metabolism is if youd been diagnosed with a medical illness like hypothyroidism.
@scarred10 I know reps does not equal to strength, but this guy can also do pull ups with one arm. And I don't need to go to a doctor to know I have a slow metabolism because people with slow metabolism get fat more easily and I am one of those despite I eat the same amount as my friends and exercise more than them. Trust me, it's sad to look at my friend's arm, a guy with high metabolism and a six pack, who doesn't workout and can manage 3 pull ups at most; his arms look more defined than mines
@iaoin2009 slow metabolism is a myth for all but a small minority of patients with a diagnosed disorder. If you have the same muscle mass and age as your friend youll burn calories at very similar rates.Theres no possible way you can know if youre doing the same amout of activity and eating exactly the same as anyone unless you are taking part in an experiment.I lecture and do research in exercise physiology,i dont rely on youtube for info.
@scarred10 I'm just looking for some suggestions, not trying to argue with you. In the real world, things are not that simple. You can't expect to get the same result as someone just because you work as hard as them, that is why words like genetic and aptitude exist. I know this is no excuse for not striving to become my best.
@iaoin2009 youre argument makes no sense.Obviously the extreme minority of people will be doing 76 pullups no matter how muuch training they do.However, almost anyone can be lean and muscular with disciplined diet every day and hard work 3 times per week.
u carnt hang and shake off you need to keep improveing every time...ino you probily no your stuff so do i myself but u want a little advice mate??....try to actualy go to 76 without resting and recuvery time that way youl be fitter stronger and youl look more impresive
@EFTGym "Crossfit shit"? I do crossfit....Whats wrong with crossfit? I think this dude did a great job in the video. There is a teeny bit of kipping but yes very impressive and good technique.
@TheF0rtress USMC major armstrong pull up program dude. monday, 5x max reps. tuesday, pyramids (rep=10sec rest) to max. wedsday, take your last high number from pyramids and do training sets (if my max on pyramids was 7, i do 3 sets of regular pull-ups, 3 sets of chin ups, and 3 sets or reg pull-ups again for 7 reps). thursday, as many regular pull-up training sets until failure (if i messed up wedsday, deduct one rep). friday, repeat the hardest day. i thought you might have been doing it.
@TheF0rtress i stopped armstrong program and began crossfiting. crossfit is prett intense. just non-stop HIIT. towards your muscle fatigue you end up telling yourself "again! FASTER!!!"
@TheF0rtress Hey man. I am 14 and am currently trying to work up to 100 pullups 500 pushups 1000 situps in a row. I was wondering how long do you think it will take? I know it will be a long while. But I will not quit. Just curious, since you were able to build up to doing a lot. To give you an idea of my current strength I can do 30 pushups 8 pullups 75 situps at 210 lbs. 8 diamond pushups if it counts. I am currently also doing cardio to burn some fat. Thanks.
Impressive as hell man. It's amazing that you never let go of the bar. I'm glad you showed your hands because I was wondering how they looked after that feat.
Hey, what has amazed me is the hand strength you have got

@btownshreds1 I think he's saying that he was expecting to see 76 butterfly or kipping pullups and was impressed that he didn't see it.

you need to pull out your elbows, by pointing your elbows in you're incorporating more of your biceps, impressive nonetheless

@TheF0rtress USMC major armstrong pull up program dude. monday, 5x max reps. tuesday, pyramids (rep=10sec rest) to max. wedsday, take your last high number from pyramids and do training sets (if my max on pyramids was 7, i do 3 sets of regular pull-ups, 3 sets of chin ups, and 3 sets or reg pull-ups again for 7 reps). thursday, as many regular pull-up training sets until failure (if i messed up wedsday, deduct one rep). friday, repeat the hardest day. i thought you might have been doing it.
xthexTxvirusx 2 months ago
@xthexTxvirusx sounds intense. I had my own training plan... As you can see, brings great results ;)
TheF0rtress 2 months ago

Thanks.
