  • Great job on this video, Utah is one of my heroes. It was also fun to learn he and I share a birth date though he preceded me in life by 15 years. I used to enjoy listening to his radio show "Loafer's Glory" on KPFA here in the Bay Area. He was a great man and I cherish my Utah Phillips CD's.

  • @erkd1 America was born of protest and rebellion. I am right leaning, but to silence anyone one our soil is just UN-American! Long live Utah.

  • Great piece of work! Thanks for doing it; thanks for posting it.

To this day, I have a Southwestern tooled silver belt buckle that Bruce traded me one night in the 70s at San Francisco's Great American Music Hall for a brass Utah Railroad commemorative buckle I was wearing.

I think we both believed we got the better end of that deal.

  • Oh, I miss that man! Thank you - you did a wonderful job on this video :)

  • I've never heard this story told so well, even in Emma Goldman's autobiography. I love this video!

  • sweeeet video! thank you for making it

  • I am bad luck. As soon as I find great musicians to listen to, they die.

  • So you killed Mickeal Jackson.

  • Mein gott no, never liked him.

  • check out Mischief Brew!

  • SUCKS! ;_; I just learned about him about a month before he died =/

Ah well, his stories and spirit live on... <3

  • I just saw this clip during the "Tribute to Utah Phillips" portion of an IWW public forum I went to last night. Good stuff.

Did you make it or just upload it? Because if you made it you should know that actual Wobblies are showing it to people!

  • I did make the video, thanks for letting me know, that made my day!

I love the way you used the photos. I only know a little about Utah Phillips, but he certainly lived an amazing life, and was a really wise man. You honored him with this video.

  • Nice video, as always. Going to do more narration videos soon?

  • Thanks zotde! I have a work in progress now ;)

Stay tuned and thanks for the encouragement!

  • Excellent post.

  • Great vid, E! Direct Action, a great concept that has probably recently been criminalized by our White-Collar-Criminals-In-Chief...

  • I found this extrememly interesting and maybe even inspiring. I get the feeling that I should have heard of these folks before, but I haven't. What a shame. This should be common knowledge. We need some Neo-Wobblies in this day and age if we are going to save our asses. Seems to be the only answer. Awesome video.

  • This was fascinating. Got any more?

  • Thank you Qualia!

  • What an inspiring video, Erik. Wonderful collection of images you've put together. Thanks! 5 stars and faved.
