I personally think she has a very good command of the English language considering it isn't her mother tongue. She's more articulate compared to a lot of English speaking people I know here in Melbourne. So what if she has a Spanish accent? I always cringe whenever I hear someone trying to pull off an accent that isn't their own. So thank goodness she doesn't disguise that lovely accent.

Evrybody who speaks catalan speaks spanish (castellano) as well. catalan is more a dialect than a language itself.

@kieropipas Not in fact psanish in catalan are quite close i was living in Mallorca where they speak catalan well sometimes to understand old people from little towns like also is hard for me to understand spanish from old people in very small villages even my mother tongue is spanish., but are quite close. About everybody who speaks catalan speaks spanish in fact isd not always that way in someway is sad :(. But the complete movie is in Spanish language.

As a former teacher of English as a foreign language in Spain, I am convinced that some people don't have the innate or event acquired ability to pronounce satisfactorily. In any event, Cruz has come a long way in her command of English, and it will only get better. Any of you language nazis out there have any thoughts?

Nah, her English is very good. She has good command of it: rich speaking vocabulary and very good grammar. She doesn't go for the simple short answers that a lof of people go for when they are speaking a foreign language. I am spanish too and I find it very difficult to have a perfect grasp of English. However, I do agree with the accent thing. She should improve it, sometimes even I find it hard to understand what she's saying.

I agree with you on the accent thing. Yes, I think she lives in L.A (or, at least, she has lived there for quite a while), that's why I find it strange that she hasn't improved her accent. I guess that it's very difficult to get rid of your native accent but yet, somehow, she has a very marked spanish accent.
