  • Daytrana made me anorxeic

  • i have ADHD. I found ADDERAll to be very Effective. to any one in who has this. this is hard to go thru as a adult. i pray for all of us

  • i would like to know if adderall has more side effects than alchohol? If i have as little as 5 beers, i wake up at night and my body is trembling from the alchohol poisoning..so which one is worse?

  • Boys with ADHD were considered "hunters" in tribes about 10,000 years ago. Now people think it is a disease.

  • Psycho-stimulants that might "help" with anxiety or depression? The notion, as part of therapeutic gospel, is that an "ameliorative" affect can be assumed by the alteration in mood and/or the dampening of emotion, i.e. "therapeutic" effect. However, the poverty of the science cannot bear out any "equilibration" of the subjects brain nor, for that matter, is there any test or assay that shows there to be an neurochemical or neuroanatomical "balance" restored-no matter the explanatory model.

  • let me guess, FOX 11? ahah

  • I wish i could take all my medicines by slapping a patch on my butt

  • didn't stunt my growth...i'm 6'4"

  • i think if you used the drugs approtially then it will help....

I just got put on concerta and its helped me talk and be myself more open its a miracle

    ..

  • You have totaly right @ivmike424

  • Digging out my crystal ball here, but ADHD will be one of those myths people in the future will be discussing like, "Wow, they thought hyperactive kids were mental and neutered them with mind altering drugs?" The pharmaceutical movement of this disorder is about profit. Plain and simple. It must be stopped. This is why America is slowly falling apart. Drugs are controlling the future. Seriously, open your eyes or are those anti-depressants making it hard to see?

  • @lvmike424 ADHD medications are small potatoes compared to cancer, Alzheimer and heart medicines.

Why should they try bribe themselves into medical research for something thats not that profitable?

  • i hv ADHD n i take vyvance... is better than atheral... the one i used to take... but still i barely take them,, i dnt want to b a pillhead!

  • They can't be working very well because you don't have the attention span to finish typing a word.

  • @footballh3 wow great taunt, but that's all it is. A taunt

  • Ok I say we change the world with our technology and make school more interesting and teach more productive things, Instead of changing the body it self. Somone reply to this and give me there opinion.

  • @sinkingrob11 sure, if it was possible to change the environment to suit adhd folks that would be great and we wouldn't have to muck with our brain functions! however, real life is full of critical tasks and responsibilities that are not interesting, have confusing and unknown outcomes, and are nearly impossible to tackle with the overstimulated, exhausted, and often compulsive/perfectionist mind of this ADHD sufferer. :-)

  • Vyvanse changed my life end of story... Before i was on it i was a downer in terrible adhd/Depression and the first day i took it i felt a difference :) IM NOW AN ACHIEVER!

  • @Gnoma2345 my dr. just put me on vyvanse 20 mg! i feel a little mood swings? did that happen to u

  • @howardsternjr Yea it should go away in about a week im level out now

  • Blah

  • I have ADHD I take that Strattera stuff!

  • Now that I'm more mature I can control my hyper active part, but I know it's still there some what and I might just have ADD, not ADHD the hyperactive part. Either way I have a physical coming up next week and will be telling my Dr about this and hopefully get on some pills for couple months then get off them slowly.

I noticed though, ADHD can have its positive sides as well. I'm very creative and a great athlete and love being active. My mind just works a little different which isn't so bad.

  • "government huh" u don't have it do u ,eeeeeeeeeh; your comment don't count too bad," why don't u stick to what u can't make up .

  • peaple who don't have it shouldn't comment we are not acters " who ever u r yer gay " funny how peaple vent who they are trough their comments ^_^

  • the problem i have is when i take it is my focus increased by 100% but it wasnt on school work...i would stare at a pencil or poster in class for hours on end

  • @jackdanls87 ritalin doesnt make you more intelligent, but it helps you to make the best out of you... it makes you successfull and gives you the energy to live your life. for me, its a help. i was always unable to learn for long and so my grades werent good, even though i am intelligent. ritalin makes me do, what i really wanted but i never had the energy for... it makes me work for my dreams and i am thankfull for it... ritalin is not like a drug... its the opposite. for me its a gift =)

  • @jackdanls87 lol

  • That could have been condensed. Is a side effect of ADHD lack of focus? :/

  • yes

  • Doctor, thanks for showing not only responsibility but accessibility bringing this info so public. You are being FAR to nice though...those 'news' yahoos should be taken off the air. I don't think this is something the Hipocratic oath covers, THEY did the harm.

  • hey can addirol decrease ur sex drive or decrease ur growth of ur male organs cuz ive been taking it for ten years and nobody told me these things

  • haha ya man i wish i could say the same thing..... i started adderall like a month ago and before i could hold an erection now it will last for a couple mins!!!!! its so horrible! fooling around for 20 mins or so get her pants off and then i dont want to have sex its weird my desire is gone i dont even remember the last time i even touched myself! Im only 18 but been sexually active since 15 and its never been like this!!!

  • we all talk differently, you happen to do so too

if you have problems, i think theres meds for that [=

  • This guy is a total jerk! He doesn't know about ADHD! And yet he calls himself a "doctor"!

I think that healthcare reform would be an excellent thing for the world! Mark my words: we NEED it!

  • Trust me, there is plenty of hope for you. Quitting is hard, but there are defenitely ways to make it a lot easier. You should stop right now, because the more you do the harder it is to quit. If you quit you sho0uld really excercise, and try to eat healy and not too late at night. Don't let anyone fool you, you have the ability to maintain focus and be happy throughout the day throught natural sources(vitamins, sleep, good food, meditation)

  • Wrong, Ritalin is not helping your problem friend, and if it is it's only temporary. When you stop taking it your problems will come back TEN FOLD. The more you take Ritalin, the more you damage your bodies ability to produce Dopamine. This will effect you the older you get, and will be very depressing.

There is no such thing as ADHD. This is a myth created by the drug companies to sell their product.

Either way dude, I wish you the best of luck....

  • I`ve battled w/whether ADHD is real or not, but I`ve concluded it is. My son was diagnosed at 6 but no treatment was given so I was left to figure things out for myself. I`ve been pregnant 4 times & he was my only baby that was in constant motion in my womb. He started walking at 8 months & was into everything. He`s never been violent but he does have meltdowns (they`ve decreased as he got older but his lack of focus has increased). He`s always been impulsive & gets bad grades (I`ll cont.)

  • I'm 21 years old now, but ever since I was young I've had the same symptoms as your son. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of maybe 15 but my parents knew I had it way before that. I never ended up taking the meds the Dr prescribed me and I always had a hard time in school and focusing and always seemed on the edge of my seat even if I was reading a book or watching TV I couldn't sit still.

    CONTUNIED...

  • Moreover, traditional and modern parenting techniques don`t work with my son. I love my son but he`s different from other kids. The more I`ve observed my son & have worked w/him & other kids, it`s obvious to me that ADHD is real. I`m sure some drug companies try to take advantage of these kids & parents, but trust me, ADD is real just like autism is real. There may be no blood test to prove it but there are too many kids w/the same symptoms to deny it, I think.

  • adhd was made by the government to sell drugs. your son is a sleeper cell planted by the government. wait... i forgot... im on the side of science... nevermind... yeah it is real

  • Sure ADHD meds work. You can give anyone on the planet speed and they will be more focused and work harder and more proficiently. You don't even need ADD or ADHD for them to work. That's why they continue to be over prescribed. As long as kids take them and continue to bring home good grades, parents don't care. The ends justify the means, people. What's the goddamn mystery? It's like 20 Red Bull in one single pill. Class over.

  • you have never taking adoral or ritalin have you and if you have do you have add or adhd ??????

  • I have ADHD and have taken Ritalin, Adderal, Adderal XR, Vyvanse, and am currently taking Dexedrine. So there. Dexedrine in my case is the most effective so far.

  • ADHD is a made up disease. This was made up by the big drug companies to push their meth drugs. These drugs are devastating, I should know I was on Aderral than Concerta.

    Nature holds all the answers.

  • whell then you might realize then if you give a different person your medication that dose not have adhd they dont have the same body response to it like me or you might like thers kids that ask me for addorall and i ask why and they say it makes me feal good.i don't understand why people think it feal good i don't like medications butt i need them to get threw high school at least.

  • Reread my first comment. You don't need to have ADD or ADHD for these medicines to have a "positive" effect. Why do you think college kids buy Ritalin and Adderall to stay up all night to write term papers? YOU yourself probably don't like the medicine because you have to take it everyday. Nobody likes having to take medicine everyday. It sucks, doesn't it, but it's kind of a necessary evil. I never thought that when I was 14, I'd still have to still be taking stimulants when I was 25.

  • Whatever, your a weirdo. Drugs are bad, and trying to justify them because you want to "study more" is bullshit.

    Please don't have children....

  • Obviously, you need to learn to read, because I didn't say I wanted to study more. I said college kids did. I take them because I can't focuse and I get hyperactive and can't sit still and act like a 10 year old who has eating too many candy bars and drank a two liter of Mountain Dew. For a 25 year old, this is a problem.

  • Oh, I forgot, I also took Strattera, , which is a not a stimulant, which was AWESOME for about two years, and then, like just quit working out of nowhere one day.

  • Religion is the darwinian mechanism that controls our behaviors. Manufactured drugs are a new phenomena and ruin many peoples lives. More drugs more divorce. More drugs more disease and obesity. More drugs more moronic, immature fucks like yourself spewing out unfounded BULLSHIT.

  • What are you, a Scientologist?

  • No, but that is definitely one principal I have in common with them. Look, the point I'm making is that there are many different things you can do to be balanced. Cut out sugar immediately and see the change that happens. Exercise regularly. It will hurt the first couple of weeks, but than you will reap amazing benefits from having a well ran metabolism. It takes time. Quit these drugs a.s.a.p. because they are damaging the nuerotransmitters that produce the dopamine that makes you happy.

  • I'm a speed skater. I do think that everyone should try Strattera before they go the stimulant route as there can be undesirable side effects with the stimulants, but as I stated before, the Strattera worked great for a while, but it just suddenly stopped working. Have you heard of Strattera? It's very mild and I think even more effective than most of the stimulants and has zero potential for abuse. Also, Prozac works well for people as a treatment plan for ADHD.

  • Thats true of all drugs. They just suddenly "stop working" You build an immunity to them and need more and more.

  • @brian8793 yeah ...im maxed out on ritalin

  • blahahahha im .... 14 an d 6 ft ive been on drugs 4 my whole life lol

  • Also, I personally see exercise as more of an effective treatment against anxiety as opposed to ADHD, but that's my personal opinion, but everyone is different. Hopefully, most kids will grow out of ADHD. Unfortunately, this has not been the case for me. There are other treatments besides stimulants and some are very effective, but doctors seem loath to mention them unless the patient brings them up first. It might be in your case, your doctor was prescribing you ADHD meds unnecessarily

  • I'll be honest with you. I was addicted to Crystal Meth. Luckily I'm spoiled and have an incredible mom. She sent me to a place called Narconon with the advice of our Bishop. I went there for four months and it changed my life. They showed me the magic of food, excercise, and meditation. I've been clean ever since. It really is a fake disease made up by drug companies. There is documented proof of it. I may not believe in Scientology, but I owe them a debt of gratitude for Narconon.

  • And just so you know, my niece and nephew have been on ADHD meds since they were 3 and 4and I think that is atrocious. 3 and 4 year olds are supposed to be hyper. I didn't start them until I was 14 and was old enough to make the decision on my own to make them and weigh the pros and cons by myself and I think it should be that way for everyone. Because they aren't exactly the safest drugs around. So, please don't think I advocate drugging all of the kids in America on pharmecutecal speed.

  • And please believe me when I say that Narconon is not some "front group" for Scientology like people say here on youtube. They actually frowned upon people reading Dianetics and other Scientology literature. They were wonderful, and it is an amazing program.

Tom Cruise maybe a weirdo, but he's dead on about prescription meds. They are a cancer to any society, and should be outlawed. Drug companies, T.V., lazy parents, and terrible food is leading this country to a very bad place....

  • why is there nothing about Desoxyn??

  • Because Desoxyn is literally methamphetamine. It's not "like methamphetamine," it's not "similar to methamphetamine," it IS methampethamine, and they probably don't want to bring it to people's attention that, even though it's somewhat rare, there are people out there who are being prescribed pharmecutecal grade crank. It might freak out the parents.

  • i hawe ADD its almost the same as adhd but add is konsetrasjon problems i used ritalin in 2 weeks now i use concerta it works definitly it changed my life now i am a happy 14 yr old boy

  • i dought you are happy i have adhd and honestly it makes me sad that i have to rely on a pill every day just to Cary me threw that day.the worst part about it is i no it is messing with my life butt i need it to keep me motivated on every day task like SCHOOL.

  • Dr Charles Parker::CorePsych

Dr Handelman does a great job of breaking the evidence down in useful ways. This video makes it easier to appreciate how these meds work, and how we find significant success in our offices if we use them correctly.

  • Vyvanse is by far the best med...

  • The best medication is found in natural foods, and from getting good healthy sleep. These drugs are a nightmare. If your on them, get off. I know they are addictive but it's only going to get worse for you. These drugs damage your spirit and cordination. ADHD is a made up disease.

    peace;)

  • Shut your face.

  • I went to my doctor...told him I think I have adhd and he wasnt serious about it..he said he will recommend someone and thathe will call me..its been over 2months

  • It's quite a coincidence that I ran into this video.

Yesterday and the day before, with the aid of my Adderall, I elected to write a very large essay if you will. Almost all of the focus was directed towards media creating public opinions in different ways, also how they can twist your words to create different public opinions and interest.

The thing is, the whole paper has 21092 characters. That required an immense amount of focus and without the Adderall I wouldn't have been able to do it.

  • Getting a reaction from Adderall does not mean you have ADD. Adderall is amphetamine. Anyone on the planet taking Adderall will see immediate, often beneficial, results. It's rather funny, but if you look at online drug forums, the amphetamine section always has the longest and most interesting posts :D

I took Adderall when I was in university, although I did not have ADD, and I would do it all over again if I had to.

  • ADHD medications causes death and Serious problems with behavior and ADHD is a bunch od crock in most kids,,

  • Dr. K, you should name the stations/sources that misquote you. That is an important way to ensure they get it right next time. They are very sloppy reporting medical news.

  • thank you for posting this..I have ADHD and when people find out i have it, they say the med's dont work and that they do nothing for me...this is not true.i function better with the med's and can concentrate better when i am on them

  • The long terms effects to social and accademic results are well worth the un-proven hypothesis that make the headlines.

I am 14 and take concerta XL. Last year in school i was suspended 5 times. This year since i have been taking the drud i have not once been into to trouble. My concentration is much better, i am more calm and i am slightly less impulsive althogh nit much.

However, i am still very dis organised, loose things etc. I find it hard to sleep at night and don't eat much at all.

  • I am an ADHD sufferer and a mother of a child with ADHD. I am also a Behaviorist. Behaviour management plays a huge part in the control of this disorder. My son and I are both on Ritalin and I would never be without it! Imagine being in a nightclub with 300 people all music blaring and lights flashing, trying to concentrate on 20 conversations at the one time! Thats what its like 24-7 for people with ADHD.Ritalin stops all that. Serenity springs to mind when I think of Ritalin!

  • I agree that the medicines DO work over time - and that is why I created this video, to counter what the press has been saying.

Teen pregnancy, alcoholism, etc. - are risks when someone does NOT get effective treatment for ADHD, whereas if they DO get effective treatment for ADHD (Which generally means combination treatment including medicine), then they are at LOWER risk of these complications.

    Dr. Kenny

  • it's true when i was a teen it was like i was without common sense. i didnt care much about anything i just wanted to have fun i was so blind. adderall straight up open my eyes

  • I don't understand how its not "effective over the long term" as long as someone takes their pill every day it WILL work, unless they've gained tolerance to it or something, which is unlikely unless the dose is too high. And higher risk of teen pregnancy and alcoholism...? I don't even know what to say about that...since adhd pills pretty much make people more thoughtful about what they're doing and willing to work out problems, I don't see sence in that...
