its still on the stock turbo though so i doubt they put on an external wastegate. unless its an o2 housing with an divorced wastegate dump. thats what im trying to figure out.  hope someone can shed some light on what mods the car had. maybe big al can chime in.

I am trying to aide the customer by disclosing facts about a compteing product which - sadly - many customers are buying without knowing any details on how it works. Information is a customer's best friend and an eductaed customer is my best customer. customer satisfaction and education do take priorty within this business. we all want to go faster and have the knowledge that the choices we make provide the grin/smile factor. i do agree Al that there are some suppliers that go for the one hit sale totally ignoring the fact that repeat business and word of mouth is what keep them going. i have not tried an anxilliary device as a tuning aide and thus cannot comment on its usefullness. i believe in the ecutek ecu as i have used it in my STi.

Lets face the facts

The so called z chip is not even a "chip" its a crude piggy back device that simply intercepts the MAP signal. Its funny that it took some old fashioned detective work on the part of Mike @ AWD any myself to get to the bottom of just what the z chip is and how it works - shame that the people selling the z chip did not specify and disclose this info directly to the general public.

The zchip by TTP is a MAP sensor piggy back device which crudly tunes the Evo X by rasing and lowering the map sensor signal, thereby in a very primative fashion effecting the tuning of the vehicle. Very similar to an emanage in application or a SFAC but without any ignition timing control.

Such devices can and have been very successful in the past but with the advent of more advanced and complex ecus on the current cars using such a primative tool is like using a sling shotg to attack a tank
