@Mycroftsbrother Google it, you'll be surprised how many good free blues backing tracks you'll find! (I got mine on the Lick Library DVD, I can't rip it nor can I send it to you, sorry)
Eminence Red Fang speaker really made my amp come alive. In my opinion, it's the best speaker for overdrive sounds. With this speaker, my Mesa Boogie really nails the Dumble like smooth overdrive and has a really warm and jazzy clean. For blues and rock, Mesa + Red Fang is what sounds best to my ears!
wow funny you should say that. im right handed but i play exactly like albert king. lefthand upside down...lol...talk about opposites....thanks for the reply
hey great playing and yeah your sound does have a albert king sound to it. but to play it real albert king style is to flip it round and play it lefthanded upside down..lol. nice playing tho
The Varitone is really amazing - it really "calms down" the otherwise hot Epiphone pickups (they are somewhere between blues-rock in the output levels, leaning towards rock); it cuts frequencies more and more as you move the switch from 1 to 6 (the bridge pickup on 4 or 5 makes it sound even nice for country style picking!). The pickups have a nice midhump sound, similar to 57s, but with a bit less clarity. Might swap them out for a pair of Classics, but the Epis are very sweet as well.
Excellent playing.
