The display is enclosed so if I had to guess, I would guess that there is a clear glass vertical wall inside rotating at very high speed. If you project an image of the object's surface at each point through the rotation, it will appear to the eye to be a 3D object.

Thats exactly what i thought at first. But you would need the projection to create sperate flashes of light at every degree of when its spinning. which i think is out of our reach, but i could be wrong.

They use LED like pannel. It moves up and down soo fast that it creates a 3D immage but it really is like a 2D immage overlapping itself thouands and thousands of times.
