Locks could always bubble themselves it wasnt always very effective but they could still do it. before it took some of the voiwalkers HP and thats how much dmg was absorbed but now it just takes a little bit and it absorbs quite a bit off dmg for a set amount of time. believe me i kno i started lvling a Warlock back then and he is 80 now.

Sub is good until the Outland content. When I was in the 50s on my rogue I was going like 20-1 every game with Sub, then the ridiculous burst isnt enough to kill someone in 1 try once they get outland gear, and since sub does no damage out of stealth, that is when you go mutilate.

Combat is actually my favorite spec tho.

Any warlock knows to drop a dot the second they see a rogue to stop them vanish+reopening. Okay.. my level 47 rogue just killed a level 55 mage, 8 level difference and i think that it's the similar case here.. the thing is that rogues usually have approx the same hp as a caster class that is 10 levels higher, for example, the mage i just killed had 2100 hp while i had 2705 hp, i just cheap shotted, missed alittle, 5 combo points, rupture and then vanished, cheap shotted again and.. there you have it.. and if that warlock would have feared you, you'd been in some deep shit.

She was wearing the mageweave legs and the whitemourne cap so I would say around 42. Around that time my lock had probably 1500-2500 hp? I don't know but rogue will do damage against any cloth class at those levels.
