I'm sure mark lane is more remembered for his famous books about the J.F.K conspiracy but he also was a attorney for jonestown and was there when the tragedy occurred he and gary were led by 2 men with guns out of jonestown in a small wooden house.

@DB0175 Mark Lane was a coward and an opportunist who had attached himself to controversies because of his love of the spotlight, and pure greed. Jones paid him well. Lane's greed almost got himself killed in the jungle and he ran like a scalded cat.

Dwyer, CIA agent, is seen peeling off from the main group in the film footage right before the shooting began at the airstrip, and then is at the compound later when all the people are being killed, Jones mentions his name on tape, and says "Get Dywer out of here before something happens to him" and THEN is found later back at the airstrip, in a mind altered state.

i'm a little confused. Mark Lane wasn't missing, not for long anyway. He's the SAME guy who defended the woman who claims that she saw Martin Luther King's real assassin. He helped spring her from the mental institution where she was being kept. His involvement with Jonestown is.....well...interesting.

1978 , Jones hired Lawyer Mark Lane to make the case of a "Grand Conspiracy" by intelligence agencies against the Peoples Temple .

Lane spoke to the residents of Jonestown , providing support for Jones' theories , told them to stay and held press conferences saying :

"none of the charges" against the Temple "are true"

Jones paid him $6k/mo. for such theories .

Later that mo. 900 ppl died after taking cyanide laced kool-aid at gunpoint .

Yeah, sk9utube - it was basically a mind control experiment by the CIA, and it was supposed to have stopped in 1973. It was under MKULTRA, but it moved its experimentation from Prisons and Hospitals to Cults. Jones' was connected through Dwyer (who was using an embassy position as "cover".) . Ive read that they moved this program to Grenada (the ops team moved right out and took documents)

I first heard of Moscone and Mitrione in the late 1980's from punk rock group "Dead Kennedys" - their version of "I fought the law" was about his murder.

They also had a song "California Uber Alles" about Jerry Brown, who they outed as a fascist.
