@AngryCasawy I think we've been over all this in earlier posts. We didn't know enough of the complicated politics to have any interest in making a 'Political shity message'. So no need for you to be so rude to a stranger.
I've made this trip various times, from Tan Tan to Laayoune in Land Rover, cramped in with a dozen local people, it was always great to arrive in Laayoune, even though itr was in the middle of nowhere. Great trip you had.
if you had problems with your car or something else, will you call in maroctelecom or sahrawi telecom? to call who moroccan police or sahrawi terorrists, when you visit a country try to have some respect.
We would've probably been helped by local people who happened to be passing. Most people we met the whole trip were really good to us, and politics never came into it. We were simple travellers, in an old car, on our way to Gambia, and NOT experts on local poliitics. We DID read about the issues affecting local people before setting off, more than many would do, I think. We tried to the best of our knowledge to be respectful of local culture and to learn a little as we passed on our way.
ok i believe you, but what about the flag that you present in the video, when you showed the other video between agadir and somewhere, i saw no flags then after in moroccan desert you talked about western sahara and flag shown, have you been to a costumer or boarders to show your passport for entering another country? thanks
We didn't have to show passport or pass customs, but we did see more soldiers than police in this area, and UN. We didn't show passport or pass customs when going from France into Spain. Just drove on down the road.
My maps showed W Sahara. The rest of the world regards the region as disputed territory, evidenced by the heavy UN presence. Moroccan maps show the region as Morocco, maps purchased elsewhere show it as Western Sahara.
Well if you used a Sahrawi flag you should consider it as me driving around in London with a IRA logo on my car. Of course people are going to get abusive to you in this video. Great vid, but before you visit a country you should know some history.
Your comment doesn't really make sense. We had no Sahrawi flag on the car. If a visitor from outside Europe posted a video of a trip to Northern Ireland with a the Eire flag to introduce the video, I would not write abuse and bad language.. It would not cause me to rage at strangers. I would not put F** you Irish/English whatever. It would hopefully allow debate about the history of the Ireland and the possible acceptable political solutions. Surely that's what grown up people do?
Well if you didn't fly the sahrawi flag, then there is no fuzz about it. The only thing I wanted to stress out, is that the sahrawi terrorist organisation Polisario is as serious to us as the IRA was serious to the English.
Great Travel but I want to say this sahara is morrocan, this country is not occupying, there is two people in this sahara: marrocan saharawi and independantist saharawi...
Why so rude & abusive? We were strangers travelling thru & trying to learn a bit about life in this area. There are some differences here in UK between parts of this country, but I would not expect you as a visitor to understand them. I would not be abusive to you if you don't know our history and politics. My friend, it's a small world, so we have to try and get on with each as best we can or your children and mine will suffer. I hope you have a peaceful happy life.
Can't sell it in Europe either (only a few specialist places for historic cars). In W Africa they seem to use whatever they can get hold of. One of the poorest parts of the world. In Senegal they pumped gas by hand at one place we used.
Radio reception not too good. Only maybe one station in range, some of the time. Some places it was in Spanish. Radio usually Arabic/French. Can't recall a speed limit, we stuck to 55 - 60 for fuel economy and to preserve our car! You'll see the speed limit signs where there is one. And they have speed cameras!
Why didn't you put the Morocan Flag in the beggening of the video...

Excellent, bleak, barren and hot. But freezing at night! The road seems to be in good nick, though - at least, for the time being...
