I'm still in Mysidia trying to get Maria to Master the Toad spell. And this is on the GBA version. Cure while it is the easiest spell to Master you don't want to master it too fast because even when your MP is in the low 100's you still have to keep a close eye on it.
Uh, one cast of cure in a battle would use up enough MP to cause the character to boost their maximum MP. Even with just 150 MP, I could easily have cure 12. Cast it twice and you're prone to get an MP boost. You only need 10% of the MP used to get a chance of a boost. 20% has a good chance of a boost and is what I recommend. Stay near a town so you can make use of the inn. HP works the same, only, don't recover it during battle, unless it's an emergency. See parts 1 and 2 for details.
I think it's either circle+select, X+select, circle+start, or X+start (push both simultaneously). I'm familiar with the PS1 version, but it's been 8 months since I last played this game so I don't remember exactly. I do know that it is a combination of 2 buttons, one of which being circle or X, the other being select or start (in order of highest to lowest certainty for each group).
