Wow, why can't Ameritard movie makers come out with a war movie that is this good? I mean, I watch most Ameritard war movies and get that cheap-cheesy feeling when I watch them, crappy acting, weak plot and so many repeated storylines that I want to puke. This movie had very good acting and a really believable cast of people spelling out the horror and drudgery of war. Only real

minus was the dubbing, should have been done with Russian accents, would have enhanced the experience, 8 out of 10.

@Hperman09 Well, there are still SOME good films made by Ameritard producers. But I agree with your sentiment, most are very stupido. I just cannot follow a movie that has subtitles. The reason being, I am usually on the internet while the movie is playing, I mainly follow the dialogue. I am fine with dubbing, I sure wish more films would use dubbing as opposed to fricken subtitles. I look away from the subtitles for 30 seconds and I am screwed, the rest of the movie does not make sense.

it was interesting watching this movie as im british, so as a third party, it wasn't 'good guys' against 'bad guys'. made the fighting seem a whole lot more pointless and wasteful.

Subtitled films are great! It is a opportunity to hear foreign language, ambient, music...

Films with dubbing are good only for tales for kids and films such as Rambo 197... :)

Overall good movie but I didn't really sympathise with much of the characters except maybe the artist fellow. I always thought Soviet soldiers were well disciplined and cultured people who like their literature, ballet and classical music. I think these guys give a better depiction of the modern Russian army as opposed to the USSR army.

Most def worth watching yes, gives a good account of what (i would imagine) it must have been like. But, I have just seen the best war film I've seen in years (if not ever!!!) The Korean epic Taguki (Brotherhood in English) Most highly recommended. Like the best of Private Ryan but all the way through! I just kept repeating Holy F**k all the way through. If you can get past the sub-titles barrier, which most of average intelligence can (I have friends who find it distracting?)you'll thank me.

As I have fought in war and seen it's incomprehensible and senseless destruction it seems to me that no one learns.Islam is about a view of God, Christianity is about a view of God.
