Someone ought to check the salinity of Alaskan tundra for a taste-test comparison. See if hematite alters to goethite under similar conditions in a lab. Gimme a grant, I'll volunteer... as long as I can conduct my study on Maui! (Hey, didn't she say vulcanism was an important contributing factor?!)
Great documentary, its a pity that people watched 15 million+ times the brainless "leave Britney alone" video and only less than 500 hits on this science worthy-mind expending piece. I for one; enjoyed every bit!
