  • IM FUCKING HUNGRYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Irish food is the best and so is Russian and English, for sure. I can say that after I've been to both places and puked my guts out, and had to find the nearest Italian or Japanese restaurant. I'm not particularly vegetarian just for ur information.

  • My Great Grandfather was a minor in Yorkshire, and every Friday he had 2 pigs trotters with juice and bread. It was cheep meat and did himgood,he lived to 86 years.

Respect traditional butchers who sell wholesome traditional foods.

  • Me mouth's watering now, lol

  • clonakilty pudding best thing since sliced bread!

  • @vaughan4082 ya tiz lovely boy ... i live in da city like, and have to say you cant get better that Clon' pudding... i always prefer black .. take care boy...

  • I'm a round vegetarian... lets go back to that bakery!!!

  • "What's fresh today??"

    What was the next question????????

    My mind is spinning!

Golly, I am SUCH a child!

  • @FSTOPDR lol what you mean

  • Yes, too much meat there, cakes are better:)

  • I am Irish and all that food looks like shit!

  • @COCEDOLO Probably because most of the food you eat comes from a machine and is covered in grease. The food looks like shit because it's raw meat, if you cooked it and put it together as a meal it'd taste amazing. Have you ever had bodice or tripe? Mindblowing!

My favourite part about the market is the place with the buckets of sundried tomatoes and olives and stuff, the cheese and pate place and the bread place! Three pilgrimage pitstops anytime I'm in town with money...

  • Thank you and all the best to you, too.

  • I don't understand why the description says, "not for the faint hearted". I didn't really see anything strange.

  • You are right, there isn't anything strange in this video. What is strange is that some people have never seen a market like this. For a lot of people they only meat they ever see is pre-packed in a supermarket freezer:)

    Wishing you all the best:)

  • @wyllieohagan what in the world are you talking about man? everyone has seen a market like this in fact the vast majority of us have them right around the corner from our homes. not sure what it is your on about brother. greetings ffrom buffalo,ny,usa.

  • @betsiecow so you didnt see the bodies in the fridge... OK !!! ha,ha.. (jesus, that was close Shhhhhhhhhh ...)

  • Oh what I wouldn't give to be there now!

  • Come over:)

  • A thousand may sound a lot but we are five in the family and the neighbours love it too so it,s all gone too soon.

  • It seems like people from all walks of life like this market. Maybe the public are sick of the food items that comes in wraps and covers like in the supermarkets which adds to the cost. Thanks for the info willieohagan.

  • You're welcome:)

Cork market is superb, the food you can buy is of the best quality. Some people have never seen food without the packaging, they'd think there was something wrong with the food we see here.

  • You must know that the life style you have in Ireland has all but dissapeared in mainland Europe, Bt that I mean all the small shops serving the communities. On my journey in Ireland what impressed me most was the small shops such as butcher shops, bakerys and fish shops. This I beleive could explain why many people are looking to Ireland as a place to settle in from abroad. You should know the value of you way of life.

  • Cork City is especially good for small shops. There are the usual global brands in the city centre, but there are also small independent shops too.

  • And can you get bacon and cabbage still?.

  • Not to mention the tea, oh the tea. I could kill for the lovely tea. My bags are full of Irish tea when returning to Sweden. I buy Lyons, Bewleys and Barrys. Are there any more brands?. My record is a thousand tea bags as hand luggage, nothing else just tea and some Cadburys choclate , oh yes the soda bread and pork sausages. The tea lasts a year the sausages a day.Nice to see Irish food coming to the fore within a european context..

  • A thousand tea bag:) That's an epic amount of tea.

  • Irish pork sausages are the best, my Swedish sons cant get eneough of them. They ate them every day when we were there on holidays. Allso the bacon was lovely, we dont have good bacon here in Sweden.

  • Thanks for your comments. Yes Irish sausages are so tasty, as is the bacon. You can't beat a good cooked breakfast for a treat once in a while. WIshing you all the best.

  • I was in this market and liked it very much. All u want under one roof and dont have to take out an umbrella when u go from one shop to outher! the pork and beef is cheap and best in all ireland.the fish section was fantastic.very fresh fish and lobsters and live crabs. remind me of the markets in south asia.I wonder why it is called the english market ?

  • Yes, you are right, it's a great market.

Just did a quick check online about the market's name: The origins of the market can be traced back to James 1st in 1610, but the present building dates from 1786.

  • homesickness it is I am feeling now.

    *sigh*

  • The English Market in Cork is an amazing place. Love the resturant uptrairs.

  • I just noticed the label for crubeens and looked it up on wikipedia. It looks very interesting. I might have to try this....

But what the heck is 'corned bodice'? (spare ribs?).

  • Hello there riversideretro.

Corned bodice - yes, that's the spare ribs, but like your, we've never heard of them till we visited the market in Cork. If you have a go with the crubeens - make a video and let us know how it turns out:)

  • @riversideretro cured or pickled ribs...

  • wow just looking at all the pork in their diet, its no wonder so few Muslims live in ireland compared to elswhere in europe.

  • I'm glad you said it. That way I don't have to. England is completely ruined. I could live in Ireland forever. White people galore! No problem. And the natural beauty of the Green Isle makes it a wonderful destination.

  • Some rather interesting Old Style Food of my Childhood of the 1950ties when everybody was Dirt Poor. I was given Tripe as a Lad back then but I very quickly went off it and would not touch it with a Barge Pole now.

Two Pubs in Dublin that sold the Crubeens The Broadstone Inn Phibsborough Road,Walshes on City Quay I think these were the Last ones to sell them to Customers. The Prices are very reasonable there in the English Market I must pay a visit next time when I am in Cork.

  • Thanks very much for your comments.

This is a great market, and as you say very reasonable. There is a cafe upstairs and the food is excellent.

It is a treat to find such a place in the middle of a major city, that's not all swankified.

  • i tak JEBAĆ IROLI !!!!! The rest of the stuff O.K

  • I remember having champ and boiled bacon stew as a child. I loved champ with scullions and the pool of melted butter in the middle. Thanks for bringing back memories girls!!!

  • Yes, it was poundies for us too, they were great, especially building the castle and putting the butter in to melt down from the top.

  • i want learn recipes for the irish meals

  • My parents made me eat tripe all the time...they said it was good for me....sorry i didn't like the texture...even with all the spagetti sauce hehe...sausage..yeah!...You know what I like are chocolate eggs(for Easter) made out of mashed potatoes..do you know that recipe? This was too short Wyllie, I just started to shop.

    hugs

  • What a wonderful selection of food, all of it old-fashioned and not a heart attack in sight! Just gall stones and gout!:))

  • i luv irish sausages.....i go in search of them!! xjoeyx

  • They are the best aren't they?

We had them this morning for breakfast with youtuber EveMcTelenn who's come to play the harp for us in our film festival tomorrow.

  • You are right there Scotty. But, to tell you the truth, it is quite overwhelming to see it out there in the raw. We are so used to food being all swanky packaged. Thanks very much for your good wishes, all the best to you both.

  • I've never been to a market like that. I've only seen things like this on the Travel Channel. These lads seem very nice. Pigs Trotters seem very interesting! I have seen Tripe here in the store, but have never tried it.
