Hello, lamps dell'aerogarden not generate much heat, and can stay close to the plants.

But the best advice is to put your hand over the plant, if you feel a gentle heat, will be the same for plants and the distance is good, if you feel too much heat and burns, then will be the same for plants. enjoy!
