  • sometimes in music happen somthing awsome, in this new century this is the best

  • Love everyone involved, and love long jammy songs as a rule, but this seemed overlong, especially the vocal opening part. Or maybe I'm just bitterly jealous of everyone in the audience (never mind the musicians).

  • dave has written soooooo many unbelivably amazing songs- this is just one of them- god bless you dave matthews you are sooooo the best!!!!!!!!!

  • Carter VASCAO !

  • Haven't seen another YouTube video where Robert Randolph is so animated during jam, as others have said, starts at 4:44!

  • Comment removed

  • a 5:28 perde il cappello e parte la jam glorious

  • robert randolf as the 6th permanent DMB member!

  • most glorious jam session ever starts at 4:44

  • @isack49 lol sooo glorious

  • holy phawk

  • As long as the Dave Matthews Band and Robert Randolph are making music, rock and roll is alive.

  • there are only two words to describe this ......FUCKING PERFECT!!!

  • robert got soul, yes he do, robert got soul, how bout you? DAMN this jam is hot. time for tour 2012 yet, dave?

  • holy balls

  • Hands down that is amazing performance by Robert and DMB altogether. Definitely a musician's high if I've ever seen one. Amazing, just purely amazing. I have no other words that would begin to describe this.

  • Dave is about as high as a kite in this video lol

  • He needs to strap that to His body so He can get up and jam, lol.

  • I was lucky to be there that weekend. I remember the moment Randolph lost his hat and all hell broke loose. I'm not a huge fan of the song or the album but that few moments kicked my ass bad, was loud and lovely

  • AWESOME video man!!

  • Dave looks freakin' hoT!

  • Best version ever

  • This night was amazing. I don't think I could have danced any more. Best combo of musicians and song EVER!

  • and that's why if you haven't seen dave live you should. every freaking show is like this!!!!!!!!!!

  • The crazy thing is this wasn't even the best version of the 2005 tour. When Robert guested in LA a month before this... THAT was the best version of the tour. Absolutely incredible.

  • Randolph was my first introduction here to what Sacred Steel meant!

  • LOVE that jam at the end of this one...so spontaneous and they feed off the crowds energy. No one jams like DMB

  • dang, what a jam in this version!!

  • Like one of the top rated comments said, this gave me goosebumps. Always been a huge fan of RR and DMB is my favorite band ever. The end is just the jam to end all jams!

  • I FUCKING LOVE IT, jamming like fuckin' crazyy

  • @JordanAlysee You don't even like this kinda music.

  • Yeah Dan Kanter, reppin' my state.

    Good boy Dan, goood boy.

  • Thumbs up if Dan Kanter Sent You Here!!!

  • @MyWuzzup who?

  • Anyone know who the trumpet player is? I saw him play with Soulive here in Florida and he was dope.

  • @juventus86 um i think his name is rashawn ross, someone here should correct me if i am wrong

  • Imagine this for a second..........you listened to this song and then somehow came to the conclusion that you disliked what you just heard!! How empty must your soul must be to not only not enjoy some of the best musicians in the world jammin like gods........ BUT ALSO THEN after that click on the dislike button!! Now stop imagining your stupid and tone deaf and click on the LIKE button.......theres a clever viewer! :)

  • Saw them do this in Charlottesville, VA a few years back. Thumbs up if you were there too!

  • robert randloph is fucking crazy/awsome.

  • love me some Red Rocks

  • i wish this song was available on itunes

  • @fltndb ya know i respect anyone's opinion as much as the next guy, but come on really? Do you have to go and say dumb shit like that? I respect your opinion on his playing, but i do play squareneck resophonic myself, to me randolph's stage antics here were a tad distracting, and it actually takes away from his playing, he even hits some sour notes because of it... that's my point. However I still respect your opinion. The energy is great though, i do agree with that...

  • @nmfarlow At that point it wasn't about playing the right notes. It was about moving and being moved as what everyone there was expierencing, and even some here watching this..If I had the choice if him standing like a statue and playing the perfect melodies in key, or let loose and go with the flow of whats going on around him to the point that it almost becomes kind of a spiritual (not religous) expierence, then I most certainly would opt for the latter. But I do respect your opinion as well.

  • GRANDIOSI WOW..beautiful energy

  • dmb took the way they do live shows to the next step.. the best, if not one of the best, jam band ever.

and robert randolph, the guy who revolutionized the way ppl play the lap pedal steel guitar and the best in his instrument..

we're watching these men who werent accepted by the mainstream music but kept doing what they really love and got accepted by real music fans..

    respect them

  • @nkaak1 jam bands all the way sci, wsp!

  • wow I cannot get over their enthusiasm

    beautiful

  • i wish i could have been there so bad

  • me three...

  • Man, you gotta LOVE the energy! Thank god Gravity is holding them all down!

  • I think if Randolph and his pedal steel could, they would fly away.

  • Unfriggin' believable jam!! Simply the best!! Never heard it before tonight and a new favorite!

  • Robert Randolph is a great player, but what the hell is he doing during his solo? That's just annoying in my opinion...

  • It's a man so caught up in awesome music, but held down by a fixed instrument that he just wants to move and jam- you tard.

  • "if you give...you begin to live" dave is the best artist

  • 3:00 & 4:30 the looks on Dave's face---priceless

  • I don't know which is better this version or live at pidemont park. RR kills it in this version yet BT kills it in Pidemont as well.

  • holy shit that was epic

  • he messed up at the beginning! funny how he doesn't even care just keeps on groovin. Dave FTW =D

  • Dave better live forever!!!! Or I'm gonna be here with no good music!!

  • @beckyzee ditto! I'm thinking they better play until Fonzie is at least 130 years old.

  • an epic song!!

  • Hahaha I love how Stefan laughs at Dave when he fucks up the beginning. Still havin fun out there, awesome.

  • best version and one of my favorite songs

it would be amazing if someday robert randolph dave matthews tim reynolds, and carter became a band if only for 1 tour only album it would even better with leroi but let his soul rest

  • Maybe my favorite moment of the band, and that say a lot. What beats this?!!!?

  • CCCCCCCCCCCCAAARRRTTTEEERR!!!!!!HHEE MMAAAKKKEESS TTHHHIIISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This clearly is as funky as if not funkier than anything done before. Congrats, gents!

  • 6:14 Smokin Hot!

  • Out of the nearly 9 minutes of awesome music, and a great performance by the whole group, you chose to pick out the useless 1-2 second content in the video...

  • that jam from 4:45 on was just simply ridiculous. i got hear this live at nissan back in 05 w/ randolph but it wasn't as nasty as this one.

  • This is one SICK jam!! WOW!!

  • who is that playing sax with roi and rashawn?

  • hahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. love it.

  • 6:25 dave and robert start dancing, it makes me want to get up and dance

  • funnythewayitis i was thinking the exact same thing............ their energy on stage is redic, nothing beats dave live

  • Dude, F'n Randolph nails it in this one! Seriously! They way he compliments Dave is just amazing. Either that or I'm just really high.......

  • I never would've thought that you can rock out on a pedal steel guitar so well. What a great performance to end a set with.

  • I get goose bumps every damn time I watch this...I wonder if they appreciate how well they nailed this version...I wish I was there!

  • I watch this at least 5 times a day, and every time I get chills and want to dance.

  • lol. Me too. If this ain't the best track on Youtube, I dunno what is.

  • Buddy Guy Money @ festival express

  • Carters filthy !!!!

  • daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn

  • Fuckin' A I love this. I've probably watched it 60 or 70 times at work the last 10 months. The drummer is so damn tight.

  • @tnrc75

  • i just bought the dvd and when i got this song it gave me serious goose bumps. robert goes absolutely mental. after i watched i went a played piano. it makes me love music

  • fuck ya... dave makes me love playing music... really gets me into jamming out with my friends....dmb is one of the best at doing that too me, fucking love them

  • haha, 6:40 fonz feels left out and comes over to rock out with them

  • thats hella funny you just made me laugh so hard once i checked it out...thanks....

  • Hoooooly SHIT!! from Denver

  • Randolph loses his hat at 5:28 and just starts rocking out... glorious!

  • @SylviaLolitaLouise its fuckin epic. live shows are so awesome...nobody makes music better than people that can kill it and have that much stage presence like that

  • Wow. That is so awesome it gave me goosebumps.

  • @juligan01 me to!

  • thats soooo fucking good

  • robert randolph opening for dmb at tweeter in camden NJ. should be AWSOME! hope he guests on LB and watchtower.

  • just saw him wednesday opening at scranton for dave, didn't join in for watch tower, played a couple others though, was an amazing show

  • i was there too.. he did rhyme and reason.. then just jammed with carter.. amazing indeed

  • Look at how Dave looks at Roberts during this song. He knows that this guy feels his song. Musicians can always tell when another is in that vibe. This Song is the truth. Carter is a drummin GOD. His pocket is just amazing.

  • I think its his backbeat. He hits 2 and 4 like no one else.... so powerful but its not loud. It baffles me.

  • Dammmmmmmmm !

  • i love this song so much, but the VERY beginning with just the guitar is my favorite part

  • If all the hatemongers in Washington could listen to this, there would be peace.

  • I love this jam!!!God,it is so good!!!

  • This is so incredible it makes me sick!

  • best version of bayou for sure, this is the goods....rr and dmb go nicely together

  • That Jersey boy Robert ROCKS!!!!!

  • no words to express the awesomeness

of this music-thanks to DMB & RR

    PEACE

  • love dmb, love robert randolph, and love red rocks, too bad i missed this shit

  • top dmb tune

  • 5:28 starts getting crazy. love the hat fallin' off of Mr. Randolph ha

  • robert randolph lost his mind at 6:26. end of story

  • his voice is freaking amazing. his lyrics are also amazing... and the band is one of the best musically.

  • what a great jam

  • you have to see them live. listening to their albums is great but it just cant do justice to awesome performances like this.

  • Robert Randolph can defininately feel the music

  • Do I even want to know what this man can do to Alligator Pie?? I sure hope he makes an appearance this September at Camden.

  • at 4:22 does he forget the wordz?

  • Steel Guitar.

  • DAVE IS AMAZING

  • Just when you thought DMB couldn't get anymore energy. Lol.

    Great song man.

  • My goodness! They took the Bayou to a whole new level! That was sick! Unbelievable!

  • Robert Randolph and Dave playing together is a great idea. Great cant even begin to describe it.

  • is it wrong to watch the same video 5 times in a row...everyday

  • Not at all!

  • Comment removed

  • Is it just me, or does Dave look out of place playing an electric guitar?

  • he does. better with acoustic.

  • not the honey version, the ONE makes u crawl n bend in awe.n wish u were u on stage,as a part of that magic(thats to musicians who's felt a taste of the honey music climax) Nothin compares........I have an example of this.

  • I live for DMB and couldnt agree more... This very well may be the best i have ever heard the band come together so perfectly like this, other versions of other songs have come close but it is randolph that pushes it over the edge. this is some crazy goods that few bands are capable of producing, truley flawless!!!!

  • hahahaha i think dave messes up on the intro guitar

  • Man that steel guitar adds a killer twist to the song. Awesome

  • saw him in nashvegas last nite.....sick

  • the most amazing, longest solo i have ever seen in my life by robert at 5:00 till the end

  • They are so freakin badass live!!!

  • I am going to see DMB again this wed. (only 2 more days) I am sooo excited I get hyped everytime FUN FUN FUN times

I have also seen Robert Randolph twice but neither time was with DMB.....too bad...maybe someday they rock together

  • go to the RRFB wilmington show April 28th Tuesday at least u get to see both close together!

  • i was at that show too. it was pretty sick

  • when was this show?

  • This performance was September 12, 2005. It was a benefit show for Hurricane Katrina relief, tacked on as the fourth night of a three-night tour-ending stand at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado.

  • haha Grapes! I been to Red Rocks circa 1990 and saw Depeche Mode there for the first time. Of course i got kicked out for peeing on the crowd but that is another story. LOL Sure let's meet! :)

  • That slide sounds like a damn violin! Haha.

But man. This song is totally amazing live. :P

  • The lap steel sounds like a lap steel...

Maybe you are hearing Dave's voilin player?

  • Vascooooooooooo

  • Eu vi-os no pavilhão atlantico e foi um dos melhores concertos da minha vida..mas esta musica é do caneco sempre a dar-lhe rasgadinha hehe

  • i watched about half way into this video before i realize dave is playing an electric. wow.

  • Oh yeah huh...I don't think I even knew he played electric...
