This was my grandfathers favourite piece of music which was played at his funeral in the sixties by Gateshead Citadel Band thank you for posting it geoff.
You are spot on. D/Staff BM Derek Kane conducted the ISB during the Sunday Morning Meeting. Staff/BM Dr Stephen Cobb sat with the meeting leaders.I have to admit,I like Derek's style with the wide all embracing swing of the arms. The SA used have many BM's with a unique style of conductiong in days goneby. Not so often seen these days.

Does anyone know what text the composer used in his treatment of the hymn "Day by Day" -- the Army's words, or the traditional Swedish text?

Great to hear several older tunes in this beautiful arrangement. Thank you for sharing.

By the way...am I wrong or who conducts the ISB is Derick Kane? The way he moves his hands seems to be Derick's particular way to conduct.
I saw him in 2001 when I went to Territorial Music School in Canterbury.
