Actaually, it was not a single battle.
1887 the first Italian attempt to seize Ethopia was delinced at the battle of Dogali by Emperor John.
In 1895 the Italians tought that their time had come.
At first the Italians, with Somali auxiliary troops won the battle of Amba Alagi, but then they lost half of the Artillery and they lost battles at Tigray and Meqele.
Finally, the remaining Italian army was beaten badly at Adwa, and Italy had lost the war.

Their government fell, shocked the West, it became a symbol of hope and pride for the entire African continent and diaspora at that time.
