I finally beat this level today. It was on the Genesis version though. I'm not sure if there is a difference in the difficulty. It took me only about a half hour and a few continues. I made it to the end of stage 4, but I'm gonna keep trying and get as far as I can.

I dont' expect a lot of likes for this but honestly, I never got what was so hard about this level. I beat the game and yes it was hard as all hell and then some, but the jet bikes seem to be the most famous part and I don't remember this part being THAT difficult, especially when compared to the rest of the game.

Just looking at this video makes me proud I never played Battletoads as a kid... I would probably never even have gotten this far to begin with, but if I had, I would have probably been genuinely traumatized by how horribly difficult this level is. @yusukeelric That's not how I remember it. The speed levels are cake once you get the pattern down. It's the levels near the end, like riding a wheel thing while being chased by a giant ball that instantly kills you with the smallest slip-up, or the (actually pretty cool, but frustratingly difficult) cylindrical level with blind jumps and pitfalls everywhere, where the game gets really tough.

The rat race isn't any easier ... And the worst of all. The confusing Clinger winger... That level slaps your moral to the ground. Even the Sega Clinger Winger is Top hard in the game. is That unforgiving

And the worst part... the last 2 phases... And hyper rapid part where only common sense and 80 lost lives can make you remember the pattern... And an Even more fast barrier part where you must go up and down constantly and the last gap is just almost impossible. I can Pass turbo tunnel without losing lives... But i can't pass that bitch plane level... Is just Harcore to the bones.

Seriously... I pass this level pretty easy... The real deal comes in the Plane level... That level IS A COMPLETE HELL (Come on, even there is fire in the bg and lava)

Preflight part: Instakill rockets... Hard to land moving platforms.

@LockDown2341 no, my fellow friend... The snes version WAS EVEN WORST... This version had some intuitive gaps... The snes takes intuition and smash it on a wall. Every time you think you must jump you Must not. They even had the incredible idea of putting FALSE ramps to smash you to the air stones.

It was the easier to find Warp (The fist level requires speed, the ice level requires backtracking, the snake level requires a tricky jump, and the rat race level requires to HIT the rat when he is falling after you win a race... this one requires yous pass by with the bike lol

People always show this when they talk about how difficult this game is. Unfortunately, this level doesn't even begin to show how insanely challenging the rest of the game is. This is actually one of the easier ones. This was one of the first games I've ever played (owned it since its release) and, even with Game Genie, I could hardly beat any level without dying a few times. Heck, some were downright impossible. Yet the game was still tons of fun, especially on multiplayer with unlimited lives.

@exactoman I found this game is hard and not by good reasons... Only the speed levels were terribly hard... the rest of the game is very hard but not as unforgiving. Frankly sometimes I prefer Battletoads and Double dragon... It has a more Balanced difficulty. and the coop plays very well (well... My friends always lose all their continues just before the space level , so i normally finish the game alone =/)
