Only thing i use my ps3 is for downloading movies and the piece of shit has so many networking problems, it's not even worth it. XBOX for gaming all the way. Games are alot cooler and the controllers aren't so god dam small. like the little ps3 pussy controllers that cramp your hands. Or unless you like to pull your pud all day on the ps3. Try Getting A Router And Bring It To A Store Were They Can Prograam It And Take A Ethernet Cord And Plug It In To Ur Modem And The Other Into The Ethernet Port On Ur Router. if you have laptop with windows plug in your modem and type cmd then ip config/renew then set on windows lan to auto detect then plug in your playstation 3 your modem should find connections thats what i did

A broadband connection, an ethernet cord (unless you got the newer version of PS3 which allows a wireless connection [in this case you need a wireless router]) and a PS3 lol. Should be all you need.

unplug your modem 1st then ps3 or vive versa!

then wait about 20 - 30 secs!

turn modem on 1st then ps3 console.

then go to network settings the Internet C. Settings

Select Custom! Then Wired Keep Clicking Yes Everytime but u will need to no your details ie Ip Dns etc.

test connect and should say succeeded for both!
