Every one of these presentations is so interesting and fun to listen to the future of search. For all the new jobs and amazing technologies Google creates, tech investors are so clearly clueless to how important Google is.
Google is really taking on HTML5. The way Google adjusts the colors of their homepage and the colors of Youtube reminds me of the playful spirit I encountered in reading iWoz. Steve Wozniak spoke of the fun he had changing a single number in an Apple II program to produce wildly unique results on screen. Simply put, I think Google is using the power of art more than ever.
I was very excited for Larry Page to take over as CEO of Google. My interpretation was that Schmidt played it safe, maintained a poker face and quietly raked in the cash for Google. I thought Larry Page as CEO would spice things up. I mean, a young engineer in charge of a 200 billion dollar corporation sounds like fun to me. And slowly over the past few months my expectations were met. Google is taking more chances. Most visible are the changes to the homepage.
