  • what about the fender 50s strat?

  • "Just Got Paid" @ 2:23.

  • It's still a new Guitar, "Strategically placed abrasions" notwithstanding....

  • 240p so we meat again

  • @bringmehorizon5 Do you mean meet?

  • The song is so good !!! I love this guitar !

  • I tried one of these yesterday and I thought it was fantastic.A fifties style Tele which has all the attributes you require and a whole lot cheaper than a reissue.Regardless of the vibe it's a great guitar and will last forever.I've had both 52 and 62 reissues.

  • hm I destroy my guitars with blood sweat and beers

  • say what you want about this guitar but for me it's all about nostalgia.

  • I'm always very pleased to hear Radiohead

  • Radiohead!

  • I hate that stupid relici'ing but I have played one of these and they are really nice little guitars for not much dough. So, why can't Fender make a guitar like this with a 9.5 inch radius and no pre-worn bullshit? Fender drives me nuts. Too many models, not enough basic options. Why let PLAYERS pick a few options instead of bundling them?

  • @okwhatisup They have; the Fender Classic 50's Telecaster, exactly the same but with no "pre-worn bullshit" ;)

  • @jacka1996 Yea, after I play it for a while, it will have plenty of that worn-look.

  • @okwhatisup Well, If you have problems with the guitar models, then you can buy one in custom shop

  • good ole Tele twang!

  • is there any noise from tex mex pickups? i found many noise in my american special with texas special pickups

  • i cant explain how much i appreciate all the radiohead you play andy :')

  • I own this guitar. I love this guitar. I've been playing for 19 years and since I've been playing I've yet to wear a guitar like this, due to polyurathane coatings. It is much harder to wear a guitar these days. There are many pro's who play relics on a higher budget. I play my Road Worn Tele on a low budget and 99.8% of the crowd I play for does not know it's a robot worn guitar. And I don't care if there is some gear head in the crowd that spots my road worn guitar and makes fun of it.

  • For all of the people who are saing youa re a poser if you use this guitar....Did you know most of the time when you see pro's playing those relics that those relics are made from the fender custom shop....They lieave the real relics at home as so they do not get beat up....Also if a road worn guitar feels good and it sounds good to you their is no reason as not to get one...The ole saying goes if the shoe fits wear it...Poser or not these are good guitars.....

  • what amp mic is that and is it good for live shows?

  • @OfficialRobbieMason - I think that's a Royer R121 ribbon mic, delicate as hell and they cost over a grand, so no, they're not for live shows! If you're looking for something thicker and less harsh than a 57 then check out the Audix i5. They cost the same as a 57 too!

  • I just bought one today and for the price its f-king amazing!! I actually walked in to a guitar store to buy a nut for my les paul but sat around with this baby because all the staff was so busy, i played it for over an hour and left the place with it, and without the Tusq nut. I didn't buy it because of the "pre-worn" bs; sure It looks cool but stupid in a sence. BUT I can't get over how mine in particular feels so well; compared to some teles. Sure Mexi , but f-k its awesome!

  • subterranean homesick alien hell yeah

  • SUBTERRANEAN HOMESICK ALIEN RIFFF! i've been wanting to play forever and now you've shown me andy. you kick ass.

  • 1:27 what is the name of song?

  • If you are a fan of fender then you wouldn't question. What if playstation came out with a couch worn Playstation 3?

  • haha - once upon a time, it was hip to have a pair of worn blue jeans - that is, naturally worn of course - the first thing to do with a new pair of jeans was to wash it several times with extra bleach, to get the look - the Levi Company caught on and started offering pre-worn jeans, and of course you can get 'em with the knees out, etc -- so obviously the same thing is going on with guitars - but it doesn't really come with braggin rights, unless one BS's -- better to have a new pretty guitar

  • is it Made in USA, and does it come with a hard case?

  • @arthurbersanmaia no to both, unfortunately. :( It's a sweet guitar though, one of my favorite Telecasters that I've had the privilege of playing.

  • I used to think the same thing, WTF is this roadworn crap? But tonewise and playability they take out American Std's / specials. I don't like vintage necks but I like RW's necks. I've tried 5 of the roadworns 50's teles; all sound and feel good. Out of the MIM and MIA, the baja and roadworns have the most consistency across diff guitars. IMO the only MIM with better tone than a roadworn 50's is a baja, and MIA the AVRI series . . . I got a blonde and looking for another . . .

  • Subbtaranean Homesick Alien!

  • Who cares how these things look, if you've played one you know how amaaaazing they feel!

  • Hated these road worn guitars until my son, (the guitarrist), played a road worn strat, made in Mexico i believe. And it was SWEET !!!!

So I didn't mind how bad it looked afterwards.

  • absolute bollocks this worn out look.

Reminds me of teenagers buying a pair of ripped up jeans for $300 because it looks cool. Missing the point and mindless.

  • i played one, i love the how the neck is super thick, it feels amazing!

  • Nice crystal-shimmer to it x] I love my telecasters. Got one when I was 16, I play it everywhere and for every style

  • the first thing he plays is Radiohead; AWESOME!

  • The gloss on fretboard is too warn for me and doesnt look natural

  • The best thing about them is that they are expensive (somewhat) but you won't be scared to dink them, so you can take them out with you, and not worry too much. Imagine clonking the bottom of a highway one on the stage corner - Oh No! With this, no problem, looks the same as before and still play to enjoy.

I always thought the idea was silly, but then I got one of these and I now understand. You can play them instead of trying to protect them from the dog.

  • Subterranean Homesick Alien...

  • what does he play at 2:02 ?

  • JUST GOT PAID!!!

  • how would this tele sound with VoxAC30 and a little distortion?

  • I have this exact guitar, along with the Road Worn 50's Strat, and I absolutely LOVE them. The only thing i wish was different is the radius of the fretboard. Other than that, this guitar just screams!

  • omg greenwoood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i really want to see the sound of the new telecaster roadworn from 2011 .. i like this one and the model of 72 to from the mexicans tele's

  • hmmm this guy likes playing radiohead

  • im srry but i'd like to ware my own guitar though. i love fender. i might get a tele mim. love the vids. i subed.

  • Subterranean Homesick Alien in the beginning...:D

  • So what's the diffrence between a road worn 50's and a classics 50s? Id rather screw up my own guitar.

  • I luv telecaster sound. i'm learning with an acoustic guitar and i would like to buy a cheap electric telecaster soon, i can't afford a fender XD is there a good, cheap and telecaster guitar? XD (sorry if i have done mistakes, english isn't my mother lenguage)

  • Before I started playing guitar I really didn't like the road worn style, but now I want one really bad. They are so comfy to play, and the text mex pickups sound great. People give them a chance.

  • I was blown away w/ the Vibrolux in the store and would have bought it. BUT, no matter what distortion box I tried with it, it sounded like crap! It's like trying dirt boxes w/ this amp magically turns it into one of those 90 dollar Crate amps. Strangest thing I've ever seen! Best clean sound and coolest-looking amp in the cosmos. But extremely hostile to stompboxes! Weird!

  • I've been playing the guitar for 33 years and own two old Fenders; I played one of these Telecasters recently and was very impressed. For a mass produced guitar, they do have a remarkably genuine Fullerton feel....I'm not really sure what all this bitchery is in aid of, but they certainly haven't played one of these guitars.

  • what are you playing from 1:27 to 1:44 ??

do you have any chords ;)?

  • what happens when these guitars actually age?

  • Okay, so initially I thought the whole "roadworn" concept was cheesy, but I just played one of these today and I have to be honest, it is an EXTREMELY comfortable guitar. Plays great, sounds excellent for the money, and the yellow one looks pretty damn cool. For me this guitar isn't even about whether or not it looks like it's from the 50s, it's just a great deal.

  • Looks like Andy is a fan of Radiohead :D

  • perpously worn??? W T H????

  • i assume fender has developed a time machine that makes these guitars age with precise accuracy :)

  • What is best between Fender Stratocaster Road Worn and Fender Telecaster Road Worn?

  • Hell yeah, Subterranean Homesick Alien by Radiohead is the first song he played. I LOVE THAT BAND!

  • Andy must be a big Radiohead fan.

  • it's 3 Tone Sunburst not 2 ??

  • I dont know why everyone is hating on the relic guitars.

They're taking things a little to seriously...

  • Would you guys ever do Bass reviews? Since they make Fender/Fender Custom Shop, G&L, and Schecter basses, I think it would be cool to see that.

  • relic job aside, road worn guitars have very light, resonant bodies, and they sound and feel great.

  • what kind of fender amp used in the video?

  • @jediknightt Vibrolux reverb.

  • @fleafarteasy there's a vibrolux in the background, but PGS uses a deluxe reverb for everything...i think :)

  • @aintnoluckitsskillz - he actually says he is plugged into the Vibrolux...

  • The RWs seem a little warmer than the normal 50s and Standard...... wonder why? in the shop i tried all three and my thoughts on the tone bears out on most clips i watch.

  • Hey sorry everybody but I've seen this guitar in person and played it several times...it doesn't look like hell... I think it's absolutely gorgeous and it feels amazing! Fender has done a great job on this one it has the most comfortable neck I have ever felt and it has a great soung for basically any style. Fender rules!

  • yes road-worn quitars are cunty in the extreme. the worst is that fucking joe strummer replica. on real life it looks shit

  • nice subterranean alien

  • I wish fender would make a 60's reissue road worn with a fast neck on it. A nice blond and something like...red or blue????

  • The absolute worst trend in guitars nowadays is this stupid "road worn" crap. Trying to buy authenticity. A guitar that is worn on purpose looks like hell. A guitar that is worn by blood, sweat and tears is a thing of beauty...

  • @AwesomerAbe - Like the band Blood, Sweat, and Tears? :)

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos Owned :)))

  • @AwesomerAbe A guitar worn by "blood, sweat and tears" looks the pretty much the same as an good quality custom shop artificially worn guitar. I am pretty sure you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between a custom shop relic and an original The real difference is the price, which is about

    10,000 dollars less.

  • @varma3991 its not about look, if you wear down a guitar naturally, it adds sentimental value-something money cant buy. whereas if you do this artificially or mechanically this value is gone. you dont have any stories about how shit happpened, you dont have anyhing to link you and the guitar spiritually, which to me is wrong. the only way to reach a fully professional status imo is if a spiritual bond is present

  • @AwesomerAbe its easy to say that , idealy thats what i would do but when you havnt got £3500 to spend the story can change

  • @AwesomerAbe Ok, so its not your thing. I'm planning on getting one because they're some of the best playing guitars fenders making right now. They play great and sound awesome. Go play a few before you knock them.

  • @AwesomerAbe agreed

  • @AwesomerAbe I am with you on that one, I like beat up guitars but the only who'll beating my guitars up is me.

  • @AwesomerAbe Some of us can't afford the real thing, so we go for the next best thing: relic'd guitars.

  • @AwesomerAbe Eh, not everyone can have a guitar like that. Plus it takes like 40 years for any guitar to become "you" define as "a thing of beauty". Hey man, I like these guitars, I got 60's roadworn strat for myself. For a fact I know this won't do any real 50's/60's guitars justice, but its close enough.

It ain't bout the guitar man, its bout the music.

  • @AwesomerAbe I thought the exact same thing - who the hell would want a pre-beaten NEW guitar? When I saw it on the wall at a local music store I shook my head, but decided to try it anyways. I guess I'm eating my words now, since I fell in love with the way it plays and sounds, and bought the Road Worn Tele on the spot. Guess you have to try before making your mind up, and it's also down to personal taste too. I don't really mind the wear now, but it's not why I bought it - it's all about feel!

  • @AwesomerAbe

That may be true but there's still an advantage to this ridiculous "road worn" trend: You never have to worry about scratching or denting the body! Plus, its a way to get an Ash body Telecaster for about $350 less than the American Standard model...

  • @AwesomerAbe i completley agree!!!!!! its shows you've played it instead of pretending!!

  • @AwesomerAbe agreed - rediculous!

  • @AwesomerAbe

Why would you cry on your guitar?

  • @AwesomerAbe Those "road worn" guitars doesn't look that bad?

I'm not a big fan of relic guitars, but some relic guitars does look good. Some others are just overkill.

  • @AwesomerAbe but i have to say. I've played some telecasters the last time i visit the local music store and this one had the best feeling. at the end its not important how it looks, so why not this worn look? it's just like a stupid colouring. i like the feeling because they are not that polished looking like the new standard american telecasters. but if new polished guitars would feel like the road worn i would like them too.

  • @AwesomerAbe reliced guitars arent for everybody, i gree that some guitars shouldnt be worn like that, but as a huge fan of fender especialy vintage, they relly made these guitars perfectley, like i said relics arent for everybody

  • @AwesomerAbe

Dude shut a hell up. Everybody's talking about blood sweat and tears, yet nobody is playing the damn instrument. 10 000 000 000 guitar players in the world and 99.8% of them are bedroom heroes. Road worn guitars are excellent sounding guitars much different in sound character than USA standard, deluxe etc..

  • @AwesomerAbe That's right. The problem with this guitar is that... it's a good guitar! A few weeks ago, I would never have bought a relic guitar but I should buy a Road Worn soon...

  • @AwesomerAbe I agree....but those guitars sounds way way better then an american standard or deluxe.

  • @AwesomerAbe That doesn't change the fact that it's a good guitar. And not to mention, it makes it almost impossible to do it yourself because it's nearly impossible to find a guitar finished in nitro. That's probably the worst trend in guitars these days is gloss finishes.

  • a question...i'm a bluesplayer...wich guitar should i take for this genre? the 50's or the 60's??? many people said to me that the 60's is better for blues...please answer

  • 50's tele and vibrolux... gotta do some roy buchannon sir

  • haha this is the FIRST VIDEO I HAVE EVER seen where Andy finally plays the same thing: thus being ZZ Top: Just Got Paid

Well considering I have watched a billion PGS vids that is pretty darn good

  • Wow Andy you must love Radiohead! Which means i love you

  • @MyBeardisGood

    So do I ;)

  • Anytime I see one of these I think of a special robot that plays them for like a year non-stop in a magical warehouse somewhere. That's honestly how I believe they do it. I have no evidence to support that belief though, and I resent anyone who shatters my illusion.

  • @gavbag1234 - You're right! That's how they do it.

  • @gavbag1234 They actually just play soccer with it in the parking lot.

  • @gavbag1234 what do you think C3PO does between movies? I hear he's actually a kick ass guitar player!

  • tried one in a store, they feel like a super cheap guitar. Good idea, but does not deliver. Find somebody who knows how to relic guitars and give him a good one to work with... for that price, you can have one made out of parts, I did it and mine is 1000 times better than those...

  • road worn and relic guitars always seemed like a cheat to me.

you should have to earn that, through hard work and gigs, not just go out and buy a relic guitar.

  • Of course, a $1000 amp could make anything sound like god...

  • some please tell me what the riff at 1:46 is????

  • i never seen the point of the relic thing but this one actually seems to work.. sounds so nice clean!! dig out a marshall and this could be nicer though i think..

  • I'd buy it for $450.00 or $500.00

  • Radiohead!!

  • Oh nice, he started off with Subterranean Homesick Alien.

  • the blonde ash rw sounds much better

  • Whats he playing at 2:25? That rock riff?

  • "Just got paid" by ZZTop

  • at 2:04 there's a riff of James Brown Get up, the rest I don't know

  • what's he playing at 2:04?

  • Oh yes!

  • what is special abt road worn? just relic?

  • @HiJohnHar

Somewhat era correct. In that the pups are close to original, ash body, similar wiring, nitro finish. The big one for me is the nitro finish. Mexican and Japan reissues have poly finishes, while the Road Worn and American Vintage Reissue serie both have nitro finishes.

  • Great guitar , great feel , great idea ..

This road worn guitars attract attention .

But if only they could sell the same guitars , without faking the ageing process ; so we could make these instruments our own .

  • Hey Andy. Wanna give a video of a 50s or 60s Strat Road Worn?

  • God, this one sounds so good with overdrive. :D

  • you should compare guitars you like to play. you`ll find out, that every guitar has it`s own soul and tone. you should get what feels best for you.

  • Just, wether you like it or not. But you can also ask someone what they think about the guitar in general, not only the sound.

  • Subterranean Homesick Alien

  • i agree with "bluestudio67" I like the fender tele alot, but i would rather have a true guitar than a new guitar thats made to look and feel like an old guitar

  • i like how the tele gives that over driven sound to where the amp sounds like its gonna go BOOM at anysecond and explode god i gota get one of these hopefully they go on sale for christmas

  • Is the TELE better than the STRAT?

  • there is no better or worse... 2 different worlds

  • @Babypenis09 yes, no, yes

  • dude ur name is seriously babypenis?

  • @Babypenis09 that is like asking is Lincoln better than Cadillac........

  • Are the pickups wired in series or parallel?

  • it's JUST GOT PAID of ZZ TOP

  • whats the song at 2:24 I recognise it.

  • It may have good tone.... but so do my 5 teles. Oldest is a '74, and it only has belt buckle scratches on back from the country player who owned it. All the bands I've played in since '85, not one guitarist had a crappy looking guitar. It's a symbol of pride to have a good-lookin guitar on stage. I've never met anyone with a guitar that lies about it's age. Guys buy them because "the tone and sustain." Want sustain... ANY lightweight ash tele with nitro has it. Imposter guitars. Seen it all now

  • i agree, id rather buy a new tele and wear it myself

  • leave us poser guitarists alone. some of us want to look cool without going through the battles.

  • It's funny... I'm a "road worn" player.... and EVERY ONE of my 5 teles look nice and new. Oldest one is a '74. Only has scratches on the back where the country guitarist played with a big ol' belt buckle. Every band I've been in since '85 has demanded good-looking guitars. It reflects the professionalism of the player. he/she'd have to be a swingin player to get away with an imposter guitar like these. It's a sick joke. Try snagging a club girl with a crappy lookin axe! Good luck with that! hehe

  • Subterranean Alien Homesickness - Radiohead, the first song he played

  • i'm sure it plays nice but its a bit stupid buying it mashed up. Its just like pretending its old

  • i would give my left testicle for that guitar

  • and i would give my right one

  • Next thing General Motors will be offering rusty cars for sale.

  • have my babies

  • american deluxe telecaster review would be great.

  • Telecaster = Jimi Page, Dazed and confused 1969

  • Radiohead ... can't remember the name but must be one from OK computer era

  • Subterranean Homesick Alien

  • song in the beginning ? anybody Knows?

  • Just out of curiosity, does the Road Worn Tele play/feel/sound any better than the basic 50's reissues, or is the difference merely the finish?

  • They feel broken in if that makes any sense.

  • @PantheonLincoln Moving up and down the neck is easier since there isn't any lacquer really on the back of the neck to catch your hand. The guitar has great bite, but just something to remember (not sure with the standard 50's ri) but the pickups are not humbuckers.

  • @PantheonLincoln

    A lot!

Have been playing a lot on a orginal mex tele. Don't know with model. And I was really shocked when I tried this one. So warm, and amazing feel!

  • @PantheonLincoln the 50's reissue has the 7.25 radius and vintage size frets, the road worn has 9.5 radius and medium jumbo frets.and the neck is more 'broken in' I think they play great.....

  • hey guys... dont get me wrong, i love tele's, i own a G&L ASAT Classic, but dont you think that buying a guitar with a worn finish is kinda...cheap? i believe that if you use your guitar and it will be worn by you, it will be nway more characteristic and personal, really be YOURS.

  • Nope ;-)

It's about the feel and the tone and the roadworn has both in spades. It feels great and without all that thick finish the body really resonates nicely. Looks like crap but feels and sounds great. I don't stare at 'em I play em' just sayin

  • couldn't agree more

  • Fuck ya Radiohead, sub home sick alien

    Telecasters=Radiohead

  • What's the song at 1:26?

  • is this made in usa or mexico?

  • Mexico.. but i have tryed the guitar and it fells and sound better then then the USA Standard.. :P

  • Mexico

  • i own an original 1950s telecaster its the easiest to play guitar ive ever felt
