This movie, "The I Don't Care Girl," is practically two films. One is the narrative which is completely ordinary, and the other is the musical numbers which are extraordinary.
@dancersover40 You might enjoy seeing a Tanguay family decendant Great Granddaughter to Eva Tanguay's father's brother (a third cuz to Eva To - she's Joanna Lauren on Youtube the girl has Joannalaurensings channel.
@sheppaul Paul -- we are doing a panel/video event on Gwen next March or April, instead of honoring a director or choreographer... So stay tuned! We know Paul Phillips, one of her stage managers in the day, who has great unseen footage of Gwen he said he would share with Lee Roy Reams, who is hot to trot on this event!
This is quite a production. I always wondered why dancers like Ann Miller and Cyd Charisse, the MGM girls of the 40s, have always been put forth as the greatest dancers when Mitzi Gaynor and, believe it or not, Shirley MacLaine did some amazing work in the 50s.
the talent of Mitzi Gaynor, she should have been in so much more, what a waste of such a skilfull dancer, this film was severely cut, with several big numbers taken out by Daryl F Zanuck, and the film ended up being a mishmash, worth watching for Mitzi's great dancing
Dear Cubby Mom, yes, I would!
