Nice sweet and heart and breath catching song. Reminds me of Tameel e Irshad, all india radio programme that I listened every night before sleep, Golden Past!
Is the female vocalist singing a style of music that emphasizes the higher registers of the voice? It almost sounds as though, with the older music that the female singers have such high voices. Excuse my ignorance; just wondered why her voice is so high, besides the obvious explanation that she is very feminine.
@daedalus991 Yes they had high voices. But also to blame is the poor quality of recording. and improper equalization. These were recorded on lac discs which very soon lost the highs with the needle rubbing in the groove. This is a non standard equalization, based on manufacturers preference ( ISO any standard) coupled with VERY severe intermodulation distortion. I understand there is a software made by a UK Co which can greatly reduce the distortions.
@azzy314159 Thank you for your answer. I had thought there may have been an equalization issue, but that style of female singing is still very characteristic from the region and throughout the world as well, so it's kind of hard to tell what is real and what is lost because of technical limitations. Thanks again.
If anyone calls that Bharavi then I must say he has to learn the basic. Perhaps you are the only one who will claim that to be Bharavi. You make me laugh on your knowledge. I must say that if you have learnt that from any Ustad or Pundit, he must have made fool of you. None can explain to anyone who does not know the ABC of Indian Classical music. End of discussion.
That is what I thought ..you can't explain why this song is darbari. You have heard of raga darbari and have no clue what darbari scales or notations are. Ignorance is a bliss.
People need to learn what is the difference in the Gharanas of the Indian music especially Shams Chaurasi and Kirana. When u listen to Amer Khan, Bare ghulam Ali, Hira bai, Roshan Ara and Nizakat Salamat, then you know what is music and what is Darbari.
I don't care if you listen to these Ustads 24 hours /7 days a week but you still don't know the difference between bhairavi and darbari. Please explain to me how do you arrive to a conclusion that this song is Darbari. Give me exact detail information of this song based on your assumption that this raga is darbari.
It is amazing that every tom dick and harry is now an expert on Indian Ragas. You must be deaf and just heard of Darbari raga.
Do you know how to play any instrument? If you do then the second note for this song give it away that it is not Darbari. Darbari raga does not have Komal rishba.
Please view my video of Mohd. Rafi singing Darbari "O Duniya ke rakhwale" and see if this song has any resemblance to that.
What can one add to what so many already said. Can we imagine such composer as Naushad, singers like Rafi, the only one Rafi and Lata coming together to create such a masterpiece as this these days? Rahmans or any one ?
MASTER NOUSHAD is the composer of this sad melody sung by KING OF MALE SINGERZ and QUEEN OF FEMALE SINGER mohammad rafi saab is THE BEST REST OF THE OTHER SINGERZ ARE EITHER GOOD OR BETTER 03332604292
Rafi is not only NO. ONE he is THE ONE. I am not Indian but I am proud to say that Indian music is the best in the world. and Rafi is one the reason for that.
MAN-in memory of you i lie awake all night tossing and turning, every single second the lights of your love flicker slowly in my heart
WOMAN- ever since you turned your sight away from me, the days are empty and the nights are dark, even the moon is not in sight and the number of stars in the sky seem less
man- the party of spring has been destroyed
and the destination of love got lost somewhere, and
in the sad paths of my life i walk along with the memories of you
There is no such a thing as tivar ghandar. It is either shud or Komal Ghandar. This raga is bhairavi. Just play it with any instrument and you will soon notice the scale of bhairavi.
My fellow musiclovers: In afterlife if you are stopped at the Jannat gate, please tell them I was ashiq of Lata ji and Rafi Saahab. All the gates will open up.
Two legends togather...very difficult for both high level performence by high level performers, cant afford single mistake in the whole song...keep it up
Great composition by naushad sahab. Truly different style from any other music director.....pure classical.

To explain to a begineer takes a lot of time. None has that. Go to a school or a Ustad/Pundit, and find out yourself.
