  • what a sweet video

  • wept all the way through! hes lovely and seems similar to my son. is very hard to manage but so very rewarding .... xxx

  • My three nephews are adhd. It was a shock at first but it doesn't make as sad or frustrated. it's an everyday challenge for us but it's no sweat because we love them. God is good, special kids are really adorable... :)

  • He is a beautiful boy, i am sad to hear that he is severe we have a 3.5 year old who got diagnosed 6 months ago. Thank you for posting this i click on the greater good network everyday on all their sites because they are important but i say a little prayer when i click on the autism one that one day they will find a cure and no one else will have to go through what we went through ... God bless y'all

  • your son is indeed beautiful ! he looks very happy and thats is what is important bless your son and you !

  • Tavish is a beautiful young lad and you are a wonderful Mother whom one can see loves her son!

I Love the way you have portrayed this video and its title may i congratulate you on a wonderful explanation to thosewhom do not understand autism the bbc some years ago on their website

portrayed a lad whom had ASPERGERS SYNDROME also part of autism whom said it was an illnessi had to get a professor from Cmbridge university to tell them it was not an illness he is a expert in Autism,

  • hes sucha cutie pie ! and hes 11. stay strong :]

  • Many special kids known as Crystal Children are wrongfully diagnosed with Autism. Please google it!!!

  • Autism is not a disease, it is a disorder ...

that can never heal, because ... I also have autism

there is never a cure found, and there never will be one

  • @hopekee Autism needs no cure, as it is more of a difference than a disorder. Everyone is beautiful, we all have challenges.

  • ...Despite a decade of intensive therapies, he is still non-verbal and significantly intellectually delayed. He is not merely developing slowly. He has not responded to nutritional therapies and other alternative therapies (and trust me, we have tried many). He has responded solely to ABA. We are strong and vocal advocates for our son and not only accept him for who he is but celebrate his differences. He is Different, Not Less. And so are you. And your children. No matter your challenges. <3

  • @tamanthak Thank You for share this amazing video with others ( I'm Puertorrican and if I write something wrong in English I want apologize ) Im from Palm Bay Florida and tommorrow I perform my first 5k for Autism Awarenes , Im very happy because doing this 5k I know I help a little big for persons with this sindrome . All my respects for you , your family and your son Tavish . God bless him .

  • @tamanthak My son is also 11 years old and severely autistic. Thank you for your video and reminding me how special he is despite his shortcomings. We gave up on so many therapies (ABA really was harsh on him and the whole family). We're doing RDI with him now. It's a slow process but it's helped him. Nutrition was hard. We sent him to a clinic yrs ago just to learn to eat. BMs continue to be a problem. Our son speaks rarely and unintelligibly. Yet, his love touches us all.

  • Over the last few years, many people have taken the time to comment about this video. For the people who left positive, constructive comments, thank you. For those who have not, well, it probably isn't appropriate for me to write what I think of it. Tavish is now almost 11 years old. He is doing very well and is a delightful child. However, let me clarify that he is still severely autistic. Continued in next post...

  • I think is a cure for Autism, What Is It? Most people do not think this way at all, but the main thing I think to get better is Nutrition. If you want to know how bad our nutrition is, you should join a foundation called ''Weston A. Price''. The problem is it could take years for a autistic child to get cure, it took me 12 years to get cured. Right now, most doctors can not believe that I had Autism. I think we can fix this Autism problems. May Let Autistic People Teach You!!

  • @WWPresentsTect I agree. Nutrition, and lots of love and patience.

  • I am about to turn 18 in my life and I was diagnosed with Autism. It is a hard life to live for autistic kids because other people don't understand what an autistic person goes through. I do not have many friends because I have social problems, in which in other cases people do not want to talk to me because I have different ways of looking at things. I am living to tell people they must understand what goes on to an autistic person.

  • Just to let everyone know. I am 14 years old and I suffer from Autism. I have many friends and find it hard to communicate with other people. I suffer from aspergers or how ever you spell it. I just with I was normal and could be like everyone else. I wish I died and never live. But life goes on. :(

  • I love that song, good looking boy you got yourself there. The Doc is already saying "autsim" about my two year old boy, who isn't even saying words other than "bye bye", while waving his hands....the doc said he should be putting together 3 word simple sentences by now. He is my life, she did say he could be slow (she put it alot more nicely though)....watching your video, I just soak in the music, and think how much my boy means to me......EVERYTHING.

  • @MrGoatsontrial

I just wanted to let you know that my son did not say his first word till he was 31/2. He would just make noises, but made eye contact and whenever I would tell him to do anything he responded even though he couldn't talk..today he talks and is fine, he was just very slow...once he started talking he didn't stop..so don't worry so much he might just be slow...

  • Thank you!

  • NOT...a "disorder", NEVER use that word, it is false, EXTREMELY...false.

    He has a GIFT... A magnificent....gift.

His shirt at the end is very correct, autism is and always will be a gift, this mind he has can create amazing wonders in our world if it's only allowed to understand that it can. People dream and train hard to achieve what he already has, a specialized high functioning and beautiful mind. There is no disorder here...

  • Lovely. <3

  • I am 37yo and I just discovered that I have asperger syndrome; and you know what? I love it! We can be tenacious. We are faithful people and good friends! We are protective for our other half! We must put our weaknesses aside and live on our strengths which are so special (litterately)!

  • so called high functioning autism is a created made up disorder

  • @TheEots No it's not, I have worked with a girl with high functioning Autism ( asperger's) and well she definitely has issues and it's obvious , though she is high functioning and is in univeristy and doing well but she has a hard time communicating with people, and writing stuff.

  • @TheEots - Oh, if only that were true. You are either a troll and autistic yourself and think it'd by cute to post an ugly comment or you're some young person who has no respect for himself because no one has taught you. Made up disorder? It would be great if that were the case so when I go out people would stop calling me 'weird' or 'strange' or 'odd' or pointing out things I don't notice. If only I had that magic pill to make me remember to ask 'how are you?' or 'had a nice weekend?'

  • @FredericaBimble lots of people that are weird or different or see things differently all kinds of characters in this world..it does not mean they have organic brain disorders

  • Hi, your son is beautiful just like ours. Our son Sam was born 21 years ago, he was diagnosed with severe Autism, he still cannot communicate, is not toilet trained and needs assistance with every facet of daily life. Despite all the hurdles, we are now living our dream with our son and sailing. We plan to show that Sam is a person just like us and that Autism is just one part of him and we love all of him. The journey is challenging but the reward is life. Best of luck see Our Sea Adventure

  • what a cute boy,,,,did he get his vaccine shots?

  • I'm crying

  • @TheBadBuffalo awww :( y?

  • @LeWills321 This is just a very emotional and touching video

  • ?/

  • what is this song

  • ,I HATE writing unless it is something I like and I always think about how things work and Japanese stuff, and I always want to have it with me, I have a reaccurring dream about going to Japan and Pokemon, I don't line things up,I have senserary issuses,I play over 20 instruments I try to be "normal" for my mom so she won't yell at me anymore, and I take things litterally. Do I have aspergers?

  • I am really good in math and science, I am good at doing algerbra and advanced science but I struggle in the basics because it is to hard to concentrate on things I already know and dislike, I would take stuff apart but I don't know how

  • Am I autistic? My mom has been trying to diagnose me and I will ask you guys and girls. I have some repuatives, but I don't hand flap, I do tap a lot when I'm mad,I have trouble socializing because I cannot think of what to say, and if I do say something I think that they get mad or something, I have all A's except one B which is in communication arts,

  • Every child is unique and has their own special talents and gifts. Very important to remember. Check out whatisautisminchildren.

  • that is so heart warming, really lovely video, thank you for sharing.

  • Long time ago, I didn't know 'bout autism....after watching Temple Grandin...I find that autistic people have their own potentiality....I like your son and all your words in the video...I hope that your son will be famous as Grandin...^^

  • I hope god give you patience and energy to enjoy time w this little angel forever

  • What an incredibly beautiful little boy - I hope that he comes across good people in his life, who understand, just like you are trying to teach here ... that he will contribute to their lives in ways that they cannot even conceive ... bless you as you raise him. Touching video :)

  • I do not have an autistic child so this may be easier for me to say. I think we are always told what what to expect of a child born with challenges. I see them as opportunities. We are told to expect this and that and then we help our children live up to it. I am sure it is not easy, but do not tell me what to expect. Are people without those challenges all expected to be alike? We should try and build our children to be who they will be and not what so doctor thinks they will be.

  • Lovely...i have my 6yrs old son Hammad...born on 14-Feb...diagnosed autism...he is not attending pre-school (nursery) with his little sister Maha (4yrs)...Dr. advised us to let Hammad to be with Maha all time...and yes in last 6 months we have noticed big change in Hammad...sometimes he made me cry too when I'm unable to understand what he wants...he try to say something with I'm totally unable to understand...

  • that time I just hug him, kiss him and then I take him outside to buy his lovely chocolate busicuits & mango juice...but it realy hurts when I'm unable to understand...further sometimes he will not say anything...he just starred at me with floating tears...then again I just hug him, kiss him and then he smiles...that's the time I again get lost/crushed to feel helpless.....Always wish to be there the moment he needs me....

  • @ilyasashraf my heart goes out to you my daughter is 6 now and shes has been where you are with your son, speechless and non conversational yet now she can talk and express her wants she used to just express in non understandable gibberish, screams, squeals, grunts and other singsong nonsence but this past year is huge improvement and can finally express her feelings a little and understand and speak action words and descriptive words! she also just potty trained, hang in there! AH

  • Autism is a diagnosis not a prognosis...they can tell you you're child has this...they cant tell you how functional they will or wont be. My son was profoundly disabled..at 3 didnt speak and wasn't toilet trained. Last year he won highest academic achievement for his class :) He is 9 in may.I thought I had so much to teach my son...and I have, but he has taught me much much more. I am proud of you Tom Tom mummy's little smarty pants :D

  • your son is an inspiration to me...

my 6 year old son is my whole world to me... :)

    loved the video mate..

  • ive noticed a few signs of autism in my 2 and a half year old son been noticing them for just over a year but no doctor would listen to me till november just gone and now he has to go for tests and speech therapy to rule out anything else that it could be but there all saying its most likely autism im just glad that someone has listend to me and now me and my son will get the help he needs to learn and grow and lead a normal life if he chooses to lead a normal life that is lol

  • @lurviQ And how did you come to that conclusion?

  • Curses! My disability has caused so much fear people had about me, the relationship with a neurotypical is heated and full of apocalyptic fear of my disability, they pretend this is the last days. Well it isn't the last days, it's religious bullshit to scare autistic people and I myself am autistic (and damn proud).

  • I don't get it...

  • Wos, your son is gorgeous ♥♥♥ =)

  • Nice video but it's too bad it doesn't depict reality. Autism is VERY relative and subjective. While it doesn't have to mean that it isn't severe enough to render someone virtually catatonic, it's certainly not 100% this way either. The reason why doctors always give parents the most grim outlook is because there is only one kind of autism diagnose. You can't diagnose the severity of autism. That has to be evaluated over time.

  • @TheAmazingUploader Autism varies...this is what HER son's Autism looks like :P Its not dissimilar to my own child's

  • I see a great and loving mom behind this little boy. God bless you all :)

  • watching this .. my tears fell on their own

  • "Autism affects the person but does not define them." Love that 'cause it can apply to everyone - -bc everyone's got something. Beautifully done.

  • Wow, that song always gives me chills. Great video and what a beautiful son you have. Would you think about doing an up-date video also??

  • May I ask you some questions about autism? Please let me know.

    Sincerely Jessie.

  • i love that shirt Autism is my superpower! where did you get it? Id love one for my son!

  • He is beautiful!

  • I have been watching the channel of AutismTreatment and love all the techniques they introduce of parent/child interaction. Please, check them out if you haven't already. Lots of ideas on how to approach any child.

  • @FatherPatOphelia

    Yeah, unfortunately...

  • Interesting how some of these disorders did not exist back in the day long time ago. Never heard much about diebetes either. There is nothing wrong with that boy. If you put it in his head he has a problem he will manufacture the problem. The brain is very powerful.

  • @duvexy It did exist, but it has become more common now. I have worked with children with autism and I can honestly tell it is not fake.

  • AUTISM DOESN'T HAVE A LOOK YOU RACIST FUCK ITS SOMETHING CALLED A "SOCIAL PROBLEM" IN WHICH IT IS NOT!!!! KEEP TROLLING MATE

  • This is a great video and did you know that Hyperbaric Treatment has been shown in many cases to help children with autism?

  • autism is not a condition to be fixed it is just a different way of thinking ......forget about(FIXING ) HIM AND TEACH THEM COPPING SKILLS it is a long road i have a boy who is Asd and that is all you need to do teach them what is going on we don't understand the world

  • I haven`t got my speakers working on the computer but I saw the little guys face - looks like me @ that age - good thing is you`re aware . No one was about me and I got to 45 years old before I was diagnosed ! . Life will be good for you .

  • He is alright ! Do you still love him?

  • What a beautiful little boy. I hope he picks up more skills as he goes, if only 4 himself. He deserves all that life has 2 offer.

  • wow thanks for posting this video ive never really know much about autism so this was educational to me

  • Autistic children are the innovators of tomorrow!

    - From an Autistic teen =D

  • @TheMontrealVlogger no they are not

  • @TheLatinoCrazy

There a some, but they are outnumbered by those who are wise! ^^

  • @TheMontrealVlogger Love you!!

  • @tlvailco

    Aw, thanks! XD

  • @TheMontrealVlogger

Lol... Can autistic people just write things like this with emoticons and all =S?

  • @TheMontrealVlogger What autism do you have?

  • @Galaxygamestorm

A mild form of Asperger Syndrome.

  • @TheMontrealVlogger I think i know someone like this, do you have a bad way of socializing with other but then again you are very intelligent if it's ok to ask?

  • @Galaxygamestorm

I don't do well with socializing with people I only know from a distance... Well, my parents say I'm smart, and I see myself as perceptive of details, so I guess I'm pretty good! XP

  • @TheMontrealVlogger

also vanity filled asses ( some)

  • @Benjamin028u20

    Unfortunately...

  • Brilliant!

  • What a cool name, he is just beautiful Try new things every day, and he may pick up on one in particular with little effort ;) Tavish looks like he would get on very well with animals.

  • I love Travish's t-shirt! He is amazing child, and he has amazing parents! Kisses from me:)

  • Hello. Me and my sister are crying when we watched this video. My niece always wasn't the exact baby that people thought. My family all has mental illnesses including me and we took into consideration that My niece Kairi may have autism. I looked up autism in children and she almost always does what a low functioning autistic child does. I am so happy about you and that you are able to help your son as much as you can. You are a great mother to him!

  • Beautiful thank you for sharing!

  • Bless you all <3

  • that was a nice little video, my son to has autism, they told me he would never speak, or potty train, or ever be able to go to school. They said it would be better if we went ahead and put him in a home. I said that would never happen, so they better have something else to try. now my son is 7 in first grade and can read a small book, and even with all has learned he has taught me far more then i could have ever imagined. God Bless

  • @arstoughful

Proud of you as a parent for being determined. Imagine how some parents react as if the doctors are always right. I think it's horrible doctors are STILL saying this. They should know better by now. There is a sheer lack of empathy for people with autism.

  • @arstoughful My son is also 7 and in first grade and reading a small book, writing a small book and so on. I am so proud of what he has accomplished, then I see what other 1st graders have wrote and I'm blown away, but we cannot compare. Our children are so smart, his teacher cried for me and I was shocked. She understood what I go through on a daily basis.

  • @arstoughful god bless your son, im 12 and my brother has autism, but god bless your son :)

  • @arstoughful what help did you provided to your son? my 4 year old son was diagnosed last year and he is going to pre-k to get help. but i would like to know on what other ways i can help him. Thank you for your time

  • @arstoughful They've said that to my parents too - about that we would never be able to speak, potty train, like everything.

I'm now around 18 - was 3 when being diagnosed with PDD-NOS and Asperger - and I've never followed a special education and am functioning among the 'healthy' (no one is perfect ;) ) part of the society. Strange, especially when thinking about how the diagnose was given and the futuresight too.

  • im of the autistic people i've had some hardtimes when i was in adwick park juiour school but things have got better for me

  • hope he'll be fine n u and every parent with Autism child deserve all kinda respect

  • @rayo989 The child sometimes gets bullied at school. I certaintly do.

  • I love his shirt, and you are a good parent ;)

  • And by the way: Nobody was talking of magic! We are talking of knowledge and help that is there, and that the FDA and others don´t bring to the surface!

  • @Roj899 You are right: Parents of autistic children deserve a lot of respect for what they are going through and often undergoing to help their child. And because people should be more aware of what is going on and how these families and kids are suffering, they should look into these things urgently to 1) get the treatment they need 2) see the connections of what is causing autism and 3) get justice - at least of some sort. Only knowlegde will make you free.

  • Beautiful film!

Have you seen Temple Grandin's site? I understand Tav may be more severe, but maybe you can get useful tips there anyway.

    All the best!

  • @barry0033 You do realize that a lot of people who are autistic were never vaccinated right?

  • @CaRyS469 /watch?v=HQoXwU8A4zw

  • Really beautiful film xx

  • Thank you so much for sharing he is so adorable!

  • I always got along with the autistic kids at school when i was a kid and have many symptoms of Asperger's (that is probably why). I have never believed that autistic kids, no matter how severe the impact, were mentally challenged but rather they are unable to score as high on IQ tests because the tests do not take into consideration their difficulties with communication, etc. Some of the smartest people I have ever met have been on the spectrum. Einstein was. Your little boy is adorable btw.

  • having autism myself, autism isn't caused by bad parenting but the thing is a lot of parents use permissive parenting and it is not good for ANY child and contributes to more behavior problems.

  • touche

  • COOL T-SHIRT I WANT IT!!!

  • a beautiful video!

  • He's beautiful and so is your video! I love your message to the world. Thanks so much for sharing!

  • My daughter is on the spectrum. Last year she tried to sell books on Amazon but was late shipping the books. They permanately deleted her account. However, they have deleted MY account, her mother just after a week that I created it this August. They told me "do not bother writing back". They punish an entire household. Do NOT use Amazon. They also refuse to reimburse me for the shipping I paid for. I told them about ASD and they didn't care. I have followed all Amazon rules. This is her account

  • excellent video. your son is beautiful!

    Good luck!

  • what a beautiful little boy, I have Aspergers and am fortunatley not as affected by autism as people on the lower end of the spectrum

  • I wasn't diagnosed with it till I was 22. Little late.

I found this incredibly touching. It's good to have some hope once in a while.

  • @captainkwerk omg im sorry if i will sound rude. but was it hard? how did it happen? how did u know u were diagnosd with it?

  • @haneybarney

From what I understand, those with autism don't really mind the fact that they have it. Instead of getting upset, they'll contemplate the condition and how it's affected their lives. Common feelings among autistics is that nobody really understands them and they don't understand other people, which leads to feelings of depression. My best friend was diagnosed when he talked to the doctor about how he felt.

I'm only filling you in because I've not yet seen a reply from captainkwerk!

  • @nolanjuice84 If you don't like what you see then don't view the video. This is about an innocent child and you are making such rude comments. If you don't like it - then don't watch it. It's that simple. I hope that one day you find happiness because seem to be a really angry person. I also hope that you find knowledge because you seem to be a really ignorant person as well. Either way, I hope you find happiness and are free from suffering. Peace! I'm done engaging with you.

  • @nolanjuice84 the plague happened in mulitple epidemics and to compare something like (which has nothing to do with this) that to Autism (in which person effected cannot escape it nor asked for it) is the most ignorant thing I have ever read in my entire life. Do your research and re-read your original comment. You are knocking those when making idiotic remarks like that. However, reason and logic don't seem to be your strong suit. Honestly, I feel sorry for you.

  • @nolanjuice84 One last thing, thank GOD there are autistic people in this world because without us the advancement of our world would be left up to idiots like you who believe that autism is a mental disorder! And when you have a child on the lower end of this spectrum it does become worse then the plague because you have an innocent soul who cannot communicate what they want or need when they desperately want too. So go be a troll some where else. This a video of a beautiful little boy.

  • @nolanjuice84 I am on the spectrum. I have ASD and there is nothing wrong with me mentally! I can tell you anything about history, physics, and the whole world of harry potter. You don't understand the purpose of this video - I will make it clear for you: Autism is a spectrum disorder and depending on where a person falls on it can either be severe or high functioning. There is no one kind of autisic. Try educating yourself before attacking an issue you know nothing about! Asshole!

  • I know you must receive many comments but if you have not yet heard about Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride I like like to help you find her. She Cured her son of Autism and did a wonderful interview on Dr. Mercola's site You can find her work and the whole interview here on youtube. God bless your son and your family! I hope this information finds you well!

  • autism looks retarded

  • @mcarnteydied Well, its not. Individuals with autism have shown to be quite inteligent. They just can't express it as easily as typical people can. Do me a favor and look up retardation before you go posting around ignorantly.

  • @multisnootylives1 Just like the people who go posting comments about stuff they can't relate to/don't know much about. It may look retarded, but individuals with autism are literally trapped in their bodies, and their minds. Have a little respect. You'd be surprised how much impact autism has had in each of our lives.

  • I've written the first year of my discovery of my son's Autism here: hubpages(.)com/hub/Autistic_Ayden I also explain what Autism here: hubpages(.)com/hub/Autism_Explained I was hoping you would read, rate, comment, and if you like it, share it. I'm going to be posting the second year within a few days, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know how you like it. Support and spread Autism Awareness!

  • He is A M A Z I N G he has a futrue that awaites him of ups and downs but he must have alot of ups !(: sometimes we should think to ourself its not autism but there personality of shy (:

  • my son is autistic too, ya know now in 2011 its 1 in every 75 childrenn have autism and the numbers keep growing!

  • he is soooo cute!!!!! and cool shirt!

  • This is a very well-presented video. Your son is precious!!! I like the way you have embraced autism and not perceive it as a disability but an ability instead!! I was recently diagnosed in November with Asperger's Disorder.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this video, I have worked with teens with autism for 7 yrs and people need education as easy as this.

  • Do You Think This Song Is From The Movie, "Croatia" (1986)?

  • wow! This is beautiful...you can see from your video what a beautiful boy you have...and how much you love him!! May God Bless you and your family!

  • this video is beautiful =) im sure everyday ... your little boy makes u so proud!! =)

  • quite good vid funy how other react to people who are not like them my mom used to say i was not like the normal kids ok...well i was fine i was just being what i was so i did not see the problem i was just being an aspie so whats the problem i think you should be you in done with it jeff.........48 year old madman radio ham.....

  • many have cured their childrens autism. I would'nt say there is no cure because so many have been cured! not to say all can be cured by using the same method. And some are not fully cured but substantially better. So there is hope. Good luck to you

  • @wewachywachy you can modife behaviour but i think you still have some of the affects i went to 3 schools for children who were a bit strange as they say in the 70,s

i am ok just a bit of an aspie...jeff

  • This is such a precious video. When I was in middle school, we had a particularly large Special Education class but, I tell you, those autistic kids in there are the sweetest kids. It's like they have no sense of prejudice or wrong; they just see everything as good in the world, and to me, that's a beautiful thing. 0:42 and 0:50 were absolutely adorable! And Tavish and his dad (I assume) walking down the street in the bumblebee costumes really made me smile Lovely song choice, by the way!

  • @DrEaMsOfAnOvEl You are so very right about these kids' not judging people, very often not even noticing racial differences - to many having a different color skin is similar to caucasians' having different colored hair - no big deal, what is the difference... I remember wondering why kids were so mean to each other, why say bad things and even bully. My son is like that now at 10. I so want to world to realize we (almost) all have something to contribute...anyone can lose "normalcy" anytime.
