On an Iphone 3G, IOS 3.1.3 is significantly smoother/faster than IOS 4.X.X. I only realised this after downgrading my mum's 3G. However, iOS can be faster for browsing etc. with a 3GS and 4.

actually ios 4 is crap because internet videos wont load fast

many know devices wont have flash and now even h.264 encoded videos too very slow and iphone 4's + ipod touch 4g's wont even load youtube good..

ios 4 + iphone 4/ipod touch 4g = no good experience with videos.

even today i use my ipod touch 2g for videos

but honestly battery on ipod touch 4g very very long lasting

@elimater22 this is just for the IPod NOT the IPhone!!! If you wanna update, go to 4.1 it is a lot faster than 4.0 for the IPhone 3G&GS! 4.0 makes IPhones allmost unusable!

But please correct the name of the video: it's an iPod touch, thats pretty different to iPhone! the iPod touch which is basicly the same like iPhone 3G has a very different performence like the iPhone! I had bouth, and I could trough my IPhone against the wall (actually I did) cause it's SO slowly, and the iPod is running well. So this test would look very different on a iPhone

@bazil270 I've had people tell me that I should call it both and techincally you can. It was of course called iPhone OS however Apple has renamed all versions to iOS. You can even see it in iTunes, it now calls any iPhone/iPod firmware iOS.

@smartbart3 No it will be included in a later update, probably 4.1. There's no way of getting it unless you want to run the Gold Master.

@kkeshav74 Yeah by at least one (likely quite a few) jailbreak developers as we speak. The iPhone 2G and iPod touch 1G have nearly identical internals as the iPhone 3G so it's certainly possible.

Great comparison!!! My iPhone 3G is much slower than when I was on 3.1.2, it's weird, takes forever to open the settings, and safari is much slower, and to top it off I jailbroke so that pri slowed it down even more!! Oh well it's still do able lol !! Great video!! Keep them up!!
