Much nicer if there was a real S-badged engine under the hood. I don't see the N54 on a track anytime soon until the heat issues are sorted out. Would never trade an S54-powered E46m3 or Z4M for one.
All M cars are clunky, it's the nature of the beast. the 1M will clunk eventually, if the fuel pump doesn't give out first or the tubo actuators or the indecisive software updates that BMW has yet to formalize upon. How is the E86M not a true M car? Has there been an M car built from scratch? .... Nope. So you're going to go with Lexus then or, ooh, I know, Audi, because they don't clunk.
@neverquit250 I'd say go for it mate, its a sports car you can drive to work everyday. 26 mpg, a classic bmw strait 6, six speed stick, practical, and small package are some of its virtues. I am a BMW 2002tii owner and I have owned several M3's, the 1M is remarkable. It's a 2002tii, E30 M3, and E46 M3 all blended into one. I'd been waiting for a smaller lighter weight M car for some time, and when the x5M/x6M came out I thought I would never get to see one. This may be the last lightweight M :(

@scottmicciche "would never trade an S54-powered E46m3 or Z4M for one".
No you wouldn't because:
A) The 1M coupe's are all sold and
B) you would have to pay £30k on top of the trade in.
PS: Z4 M - waste of time (never a true M car) - E46 M3 - too clunky to compete with 1M
PPS: I know because I have owned both.
