It certainly is ironic, and only becomes more so after Soul Reaver 2 where Raziel learns he's reponsible for killing his brothers and thus providing the bodies for Kain to later resurrect.
I really can't understand one thing here; how would Kain turning vampire hunters into vampires possibly be an act of blasphemy as Raziel said? I've been trying to understand it, but I just can't seem to wrap my head around it.
@Nintendoman01 The Sarafan weren't just vampire hunters, they were an order of warrior priests that hunted vampires, believing them to be a plague on the land. Kains act of ressurrecting holy priests as demonic vampires is what makes the act blasphemous. It's also a perversely ironic.
HERE IS WHERE I GET SO CONFUSED... MALEK IS ONE OF RAZIEL'S BROTHERS...I MEAN HIS TOMB IS IN THIS ESCENE... THEN WHY?..WHHY DID MALEK WAS NOT SURPRISE WHEN HE SAW RAZIEL WHILE VORADOR WAS ATTACKING THE CIRCLE?? SOMEONE PLS EXPLAIN... just search for the video : Raziel finds the reaver... this video is from soul reaver 2. someone pls explain.. why did malek did not react like ..is this raziel?? wat happened to him? u kno wat i mean?
Malek is not one of raziels brother at all, and he was not supirsed when he saw him because he did not recognize Raziel in his wraith form. It never states they are related and it is confirmed that they are not.
Raziel did not kill Malek in soul reaver 2 when he traveled back in time to before the circle was killed by Vorrador. Malek died in the first legacy of kain game which was after the other sarafan were dead, but he was ressurected in a spirit form which occupied his armour, he had no body. Kain did not ressurect Malek because he could not and wouldn't.
This scene is one of Raziel's complex life revelation on a grand scale. Devoted Legacy of Kain saga followers should be astonished in this particular scene while playing the game. p.s.LoK fanatics are dying to have a sequel to Defiance.
He was beheaded in BO1, in SR2 he's in it because it takes place prior to BO1. But his appearance in BO2 is cause of the people who made it weren't the same team that made SR, hence they didn't know what they were doing.
Vorador exists in Blood Omen 2 due to the paradox created at the end of Soul Reaver 2 - when Kain is experiencing the formation of new memories, and warns Raziel that Janos must stay dead, he was remembering the events of Blood Omen 2 which had just become a reality.
Lol although it's 8 months too old it's worth a shot. Vorador has his head in BO2 not because the team didn't know what they were doing but because of the Paradox at the end of SR2. When Raziel and Kain created the Paradox the past had to reshuffle itself so time didn't fall apart. Hence Kain's "No! The Hylden! Raziel Janos Audron must remain dead!" Instead of him going about whatever it was he originally did when BO2 occured, time showed him the new events when the paradox occurred.
I think he did what he did in BO2 alrdy because thats where he knows the hylden from and when the paradox was created he realised that the hylden would use janos as a weapon and kain tried to stop that from happening, but fate killed raziel b4 he hurd the message
because the events that existed before didn't lead up to the new future they created, therefore the past had to create new events that led up to this happening in a chronological timeline... instead of BO1 SR1 SR2 (raziel fucks everything up). It would have ended there but instead of time ending, the wheel created new events BO2 to make up for the paradox.
He runs to save the council (who is being murdered, you can hear them screaming in the background), but gets there too late, because Moebius made him wait. Having failed at his duty, he is sentenced to punishment of an eternity of performing his duty more admirably as a wraith of some kind possessing his armor. He is then killed by Vorador in Blood Omen 1 after Kain fails to kill him himself and calls on Vorador for help.
The pillar was purified when Kain brought the helmet to it - which as was previously established in the storyline can only happen when the prior guardian dies - so we can assume he was killed.
@Joudas : So malek was a human and vorador killed him and then kain made malek to an vampire?! And thats the reason why his name is also in the tomb of the sarafan. Have I understand it right? :) But if it is so, why raziel didnt want to kill malek?? He wanted revenge and killed his brothers - rahab, zephon, melchiah, dumah, (and later turel). But why didnt he try to kill malek? if kain made him, he must be also a brother of raziel or?
@SandrachenGaara Malek was the Conflict Guardian... he was human, and while Vorador was killing all of the guardians (in the BO1 intro), Malek was being held up by Raziel and Moebius, so he was late in coming to their aid. Vorador killed him, and the remaining circle members sentenced him to essentially have his soul imprisoned in his armor so he could serve them in death as he failed to serve them in life. He was never made a vampire. When Vorador kills him (again) in BO1, he's dead.
i heard that turel is not in the game beacuse the com. that made the game removed him out of the game and there was a sarafan guy your suppose to face later in the game but i know where turel's terroity is at but you can't get to it because it is very high you can't reach it unless you raziel could fly but their is a glitch like that and i was disappointed when i found out raziel had chlidren but they were extinct
Originally, killing Kain was going to get you the 'Shift at Will' ability (which does exactly what it sounds like), which would have allowed access to Turel's industrial area. They changed that when they found they weren't going to be able to wrap up the story in a single game.
Straight after he evolved, Turel somehow travelled back in time, before blood Omen, and he was worshipped as a God, 'Hash a gik' e started travelling back before raziel retuned as his wraith form.
in defiance, you kill his evolved form in the past, so he's already dead by this point.
Malek was the Guardian of Conflict. His soul was bound to his armour by Mortanius as punishment for failing to protect the rest of the Circle from Vorador, who killed six of them. He was killed by Vorador, at Dark Eden.
That's why there's no sarcophagus under his name either. Mortanius destroyed his physical body during the curse, and Vorador had to basically obliterate the armor to kill him in his cursed state. Ironically you find out in SR2 Moebius arranged Malek's failure, and for Raziel to kill off the rest of the sarafan including his past self.
I was surprised that the developers didn't focus very much on showing the astonishment Raziel should conceivably feel after discovering how incredibly ironic his secret origin is when it is revealed. I think they could have made him a little more awe-struck or incredulous.
I wonder what this game would look like redone on the PS3 and the XBOX360.

It is not whether sure that he was killed, the only thing that shows that he defeated,is that after the battle his helmet remained in his pillar.
