In this video I think I saw 3 traffic violations. And that does not even include biking-while-videoing which also means you weren't signaling your turns. So those cars were illegally parked, they should get a ticket, and you should be railing against the press, not car drivers. At least they weren't illegally MOVING like most bikers.
And I do, as a matter of habit, signal my turns. But if you were paying attention (I know, 35 seconds is a long time to tune in), I was riding straight ahead. Or at least, I would have been had it been possible!
How do you know it isnt a fixed camera to a helmet or handlebars? From the footage it looks like the rider is covering his brow rather than holding a camera.

if the bikers wouldn't have a holier than thou disposition things would work a little better. cars=1-2 tons of metal moving 15-45 mph on streets, legally. bike=10-15lb of whatever titanium material driving not qucker than 15mph on the street as well. you do the math. THIS IS NOT EUROPE, AMERICA WAS DESIGNED FOR CARS, NOT BIKES!!!!!
"Holier than thou?" Are you kidding? This is a bike lane that's SEPARATED from the car lanes by a CONCRETE barrier. Bike lanes exist for exactly the reasons you mention, acrett. To separate slower moving bicycles from faster moving cars so that nobody is in each other's way. Downtown Brooklyn streets where not built for cars but are the paved-over remnants of dirt roads made for horses over 300 years ago by the Dutch. Clearly, you don't live in NYC nor do you know what you're talking about.
How Awful. Did you report this to the Parking Authority?

There is no excuse for private cars/vans to be in a separated bike facility.

And there's *always* at least one cop at Adams, doing nothing about it. Very frustrating.
