  • i respect slash for writing some of the most recognizable riffs and solos .. but i always loved players who like to experiment with guitar and push boundaries.. guitar effects are very interesting but they cant give you soul

  • I thought Slash was always using Dunlop 1.14's??

  • I use Elixir Coated.. and if not them, then Earnie Ball's coated. :P

  • shit man those are just like my thoughts... i use thick picks and thick strings because of my strong right hand.... and all i use is clean and overdrive on my amp... this makes me like slash even more!

  • @elwulfo666 matt heafy said the same thing too

  • @valdivia562 ok now it's gay :D

no. matt is cool too. i've seen him twice live... trivium is awesome^^

  • @elwulfo666 at first i though trivium was gay but they are actually really cool

  • @elwulfo666 Lol....

  • There is no best guitarist music is not a competition god when will you people see this

  • fuck im so sick of seeing vai, satriani, malmsteen or petruccis names in slash vids. they have videos on youtube too go watch them if you dont like slash

  • the heaviest i can go for strings would be 13-60 and my lowest would be 10-46. but my favorites are 11-48 power slinkies and not even slinkies for slide.

  • 46 isn't a particularly heavy string - I've got 11-54s on my guitars at the moment and they're beautifully tight

  • lol. if you've seen paul gilbert, joe satriani, or steve vai. You realize they can have both effects and extreme playing skill at the same time. I think they proved themselves as best guitarits in terms of that category but i don't believe in best musicians. Everyone has their own characteristics even slash. I personally appreciate slash's soulful playing style.

  • @iampeete I listened a lot of Petrucci Satriani and Shawn Lane (they were my heroes), but eventually got tired what I like from slash is his tune, its so simple and yet so unique, and I also hate when guitarists overdistort(im not sure that word even exist) the simpleness of Slash´s tune makes you focus more in what he is playing

  • he uses dunlop tortex 1.14 mm

that are not the heaviest picks they made(those are 5 mm), but extra heavy.

  • 008s for moi

  • "anymore than 3 pedals and things get confusing..." mediocre guitarist confirmed.

  • @theillmc or maybe an awesome guitarist who relys on his own playing rather than effects to create his sound.

  • @theillmc One do not need pedals tp play better than some mediocre player like Tom Morello...

  • @AmnellAndreas that was a really stupid comment if you look at any tutorial by tom morello his pedal board has about 5 pedals on it a delay, a wammy, a phase 90, a wah and some more drive pedal i wouldnt consider that a lot of pedals.

  • @bubba123ification Slash= Les paul -> Marshall. Pedals don't give you talent. Being able to play as soulful as Slash = pure talent. :)

  • @AmnellAndreas yea but slash uses delay pedal mainly! :)

  • @Xoroth7 In jungle, slither and sweet child yeah, otherwise no :)

  • @AmnellAndreas that is true

  • @theillmc funny that u say that cuz mediocre guitarists tend to use lots of pedals thinking its going to make them sound better. just because a guitarist prefers a simpler setup doesnt make him a noob. I love effects pedals but I will never use more than 2 or 3 at a time because first of all, my tone comes from a good amp, and second, the more cables/circuits u throw in front of an amp, the more degraded that signal is overall. your statement is what is mediocre, my friend.

  • i USE 11 - 46!

  • dunlop heavy core 11-50

  • I use ernie ball super slinkeys 9-42. :)

  • Ernie Ball all the way! Effects are fun to mess around with, but I gotta agree that once you get onstage, it really is nice having a simple set up. And if only we all had someone to work our pedals for us :p

  • I'm into ernie ball 11-48, i recomend em

  • @MrAviiC Me too, i use ernie ball power slinky on all my guitars, sounds great!

  • @MrAviiC what tunning is go for that??

  • @BeHemoth481000 Standard tuning

  • 9-46 or 10-52 for me

  • EB's "not even slinky" .12's (standard tuning) on my strat and .11's on my LP.

The .12's really give the left hand a workout, which makes the .11's feel like .9's!!

can't play regular .9's or .10's anymore, they break like soggy noodles. BTW the sound of the big strings is fantasmic(tm)!! gotta hit 'em hard but they sound great.

SRV used .13's and they used to tear his calluses off...ouch!

  • @ToneSavant Shouldn't it be the other way round? I would have put 12s on the LP (shorter scale length)and 11s on the strat (longer scale length) then they'd feel more similar

  • I've used Ernie Ball 10 - 46 since the first time I used a guitar, my dad bought me a guitar and a pack of strings over a year ago and only the high E string broke on me and I use the guitar everyday.

  • D'addario 9-42's for me. I use GHS Boomers from time to time, and I use Elixer's on my Taylor acoustic. I bought some of Paul Gilbert's picks off of Ebay years ago, and they are all I use anymore. They are tiny, and super thick. I hate using anything else now. Slash rules!

  • yeahhhhhh no effects!

  • ernie ball 10's

  • Elixir .10 - .52 are awesome

  • @Ojayy17 Elixirs strings are actually made by ernie ball...

  • I use Ernie Ball 10's, and Gibson medium.

  • ernie ball and elixir are the best!

  • why would he need an overdrive pedal?

  • im the same, heavy strings, igh action, heavy handed

  • 1:23 How many fucking les pauls are back there????

  • @BoneyardShadow seven but im pretty sure he own more

  • i have those strings and they are epic

  • where can i pick up some 11-46s?

  • Slash uses the 1.14 Dunlop Tortex, Its the purple one.

  • do 11's have a 4th wound string? just asking cuz my acoustic has 13's and it has a 4th wound

  • this is the best motherfucker ever

  • slashh please tell me what overdrive do you use°!! someone knowsd?

  • @dnnysrock cae line driver i think

  • @KG739 that isnt a overdrivre

and slash uses boos overdrive of custm audio

     thath pedal just sucks xD

  • @dnnysrock probably a BOSS DS-1

  • agree with em on diff afx pedls..i hate them wah would be all i need..i had pedls and i found them confusen..to much thinking lol

  • i use 10-46 ernie ball regular slinky

  • hey! I also use 11-46

  • ernie's ball's 0.009-0.046 rocks

  • @acosebede Amen to that brother!

  • @acosebede personally im an 11's guy

  • @acosebede yeah i used to use those, but then i moved to regular slinkys

  • @acosebede Hell yes!

  • @TheTylerGeissler not really, they suck, you should buy 10's

  • @acosebede I play in E, Drop D, E flat, drop C#, D, and Drop C. The 10's are too thick for those.

  • @acosebede 0.09 is for weak people... 0.11-0.46 is for real men :D

  • @TheJaerbuen just a word of advice.dont say, "this is for real men." and put a smiley face at the end of the sentence. theres a difference in playing #9's in standard or half-step down tuning and #11's in drop c or drop b. theres not much of a comparison there.different size strings do different jobs and are personal preference to playing style and sound.

  • @TheSwanblaster I`m sorry if you took this for real. Because I didn`t mean this very seriously. I think people should play what they wants to, and whats best for them. Since I had a smiley face behind, I thought that people wouldn`t take it seriously. But sorry if I offended someone.

  • @TheJaerbuen gotcha. stupid comment on my part.

  • @acosebede i exchange the the 9 to a 10

  • @acosebede

    11-46 actually

  • i have a pick of 2.0 mm by DUNLOP

  • The heaviest Tortex pick is 1.14 mm. Slash uses them (I have one from the '08 tour). But Dunlop Makes picks up to 3mm thick.

  • slash uses the 1.14 i think....

but dunlop makes jazz III's, which are 3 mm thick.

  • @ozzy4pres

    Jazz III picks are 1.38...

  • @ozzy4pres im pretty sure jazz 3s are 1.33 arent they?

    i know big stubby's are 3mm thick

  • @ozzy4pres Slash uses Power slinkies. It says in the guitar world rig they have for slash

  • @ozzy4pres - i heard that he uses dunlop tortex .65

  • ya does anyone know the heaviest picks dulop makes ?

  • He uses the Purple Tortex 1.14mm.

  • 1.14mm

  • I'm pretty sure the Tortex go up to 1.17 I use them

  • 3mm?

  • what are the heaviest picks d-lop makes?

  • He uses the Purple Tortex 1.14mm.

  • where?

  • not clear...

  • so what ??!?!

  • i dont slash rocks!

  • i was commenting to the dude whoe said first to view

  • haha, i wasn´t looking at the name :)
