  • i absolutely hate and love this song at the same time..... 1st cornet part ugh...

  • We played this when I was in high school - 1967-68 - I have always loved it.

  • @LaVerniaRules our school played it..

  • Wow! Impressive! :)

  • Who said the key of G major's impossible for a high school band?!?

  • @KarlBonner1982 and all of these kids are from small schools!

  • @LaVerniaRules and both oboists are male. It's always a challenge to get that section to sound visible but not dissonant: too many oboes and they end up fighting against each other, too few and you can't hear them 98% of the time. Or (as usually happens) they can't blend but the section's still too small to have much backbone. That said I have heard wind ensembles with 4 or even 6 well-behaved oboes, and a Baroque band with 24 of them!

  • @KarlBonner1982 XD lol XD I'm in a pretty good sized band where I'm the only oboe XD lol XD It helps with the no fighting against eachother thing, but it sucks cuz I always gotta play out more XD lol XD It's definitely hard to find a happy medium. XD lol XD But it's worth it!!! :D Cuz oboes are so freakin pretty/awesome sounding :D

  • @KarlBonner1982 I don't think anyone said that.

  • @luke55698 Not here, but my band director used to constantly gripe about how awful the key of G sounded.

  • Are some of the individuals wearing marching band uniforms?

  • =O.... i looooooooooooooooooved it!i wish my school's band would stop being a bunch of douche's n take this song seriously. it might turn out almost as good as this

  • LOUDER!!!

  • What state?

  • ATSSB= All texas small schools band state band

  • Excellent performance; this is the best of five videos I've listened to.

  • PERFECT

  • @topfuel567 Not quite, but good. Who's the conductor?

  • @kinigit the conductor's name is John Whitwell...taught at Stephen F. Austin State University (TX) and University of Michigan. At the time of this performance he was the Director of Bands Emeritus there I believe.
