I don't care if they're stolen, borrowed or whatever!
They are great tunes without the modern day fakeness and screaming, oh yes and lets not forget the profanity and sexual crap in our modern so-called music...
This sorta music right here is what country music is and it's also country music history!
Keep posting this stuff !!!!! I love being able to share it with others on Facebook. I try posting one 'Blast from my Past' a day and this one's going up right now!
These are wonderful but generalizing all others as fake and screaming is ridiculous. You need to look a little harder. Country music still lives even if you can't find it.
@edisonphonographfan Roy Acuff was actually a huge inspiration to hank. The only thing he ever did to Hank was preach to him about his drug and alcohol problem. If i remember correctly a quote from Acuff to Hank was "you have a million dollar voice, but a ten cent mind"
Well I like old and new. Brad Paisley is one of the greatest songwriters in history as well as one of the greatest guitarists. The fact that he has a great voice and he is a genuine person as well means your generalization means squat.
This wreak was on Rutledge Pike near Mascot, Tn. My grandmother and grandfather seen it. Roy Acuff was not the original writer of the song. This song was wrote by brothers that seen a mother and child in a car crash. Roy also lived close to the area of Mascot and many knew him. My mother and her brothers and some of her sisters seen the wreak. It was pretty bad wreak.
I went up to the corner when the police cars came.I was about 7.The dying were already removed but I will never forget the odor of whiskey and blood.Even after years working in medicine, this song brings me back to that morning
My mother said,"well they were drunk you know" as if this explained everything.
Amazing and touching. Scary and beautiful at the same time. Gospel without sounding preachy. A thousand times better than the new stuff they call country now.
this song is hard for me to lister to because it reminds me of when my granparents were killed in a car wreck in 1998 but it is a great song thanks for posting.
AMAZING!!!! No song symbolizes what America used to be better than this one. It's still as chilling as the first time I heard it over 30 years ago. Hank and Jimmie Rodgers and Ernest Tubb were great, but I still think of Roy as the king of the country singers!

I actually heard this song being mentioned by Sarah Vowell on "This American Life" in her piece on being a Goth. Pretty damn fantastic.

This is a real classic. I was around when it originally came out. Also the Precous Jewel came out at about the same time. Terrific stuff.

I have read, the Dorsey Dixon in 1938 the car accident ha seen and the song "I Didn`t Hear Anybody Pray"has
written.Roy Acuff has it in 1942 under the name "Wreck on the Highway" brought out. Because of the song it
has to go to an extrajudicial arrangement have come, what the copyrights concerns. Any more I do not know
about the process.
Thank you for the information !
