What this example really showed is how we've all been indoctrinated to believe that a forgiving God doesn't actually forgive you unless you somehow acknowledge the gift. A forgiving God created a place of eternal torment to send those he supposedly loves if they don't use their free will to choose his will. I believe in the God of forgiveness, not jihad and vengence.

People come to church to find out about God & spirtual things, but often what they find is money beggers, feel good sermonettes, & a staff to take you through the latest 'programs'...those kinds of "churches" kept me from a relationship with the living God for many years - The New Testament warns of those kinds of teachers & organizations that claim to know God, but are liars....IF you are searching (like the guy in ER) the Bible says you will find the truth when you seek with your whole heart

Listening to this brings tears to my eyes. Even though it is a TV episode.I want to know who wrote it.I want to talk to them. Way of the Master commentator...your last remarks were beautiful and true,about Jesus Christ as the only hope. But I feel the sarcastic comments detract from the focus. There is nothing funny NOR surprising about the fictional chaplain's comments. If art imitates life, let it break the heart and bend the knee, not resort in a patronizing, "what idiot" barrage of comments.

I think that you are confusing the emerging/emergent church with New Age/Spirituality. The goal of most emergent churches is to bring those who are not comfortable with religion to Christ. This ER episode is misleading--did a Christian write it? (I don't know) The emergent church is not about "walking in a cloud", it's about bringing people to Christ--for them to lay their sins down at the feet of the King and truly repenting. The only thing "different" is how you get to those people!

The E.C. is apostate. Ecumenical apostacy. Thats why they will not even share the truth of the gospel with jews or Roman catholics.

Their influence is driving true christians outside of what is quickly becoming congregations of the unsaved but entertained.

Instead of feeding your children with bible doctrines they are entertaining them with silly little money maker programs like AWANA, that costs churches alot of money, and leave the children entertained and anemic.

Why do you have to dilute the truth to make it easier to "swallow"? Why would you want your congregation full of those who are there because you diluted the truth? Why do you want someone on your team who is there for selfish reasons and not for the good of the whole?

You have to answer for that. Remain true to the bible and its doctrine.

It's as if the "Emerging" would read that and interpret:

1-> I send you "spiritually sensitives"

2-> wisely-confused

3-> scribblers of Bible truths

4-> and the prophets, wise men and scribes of orthodoxy will come and persecute you...
