I've seen this instalation and spoke with it's creator. They're not LEDs. They're recycled camera flashes from disposable cameras. The artist collected several hundred from the processing company, and removed the flash units. They're wired to trigger when they're fully charged, and wired in parallel to a huge power supply. He used gels to color the light. Very effective and beautiful. The shadows it creates are amazing!
