I find it so wierd that everyone it is so concentrated on Ryan Phillippe, that the whole scene becomes a foggy "ryan phillipe seducing like a pro" and no one sees it and calls it for what it stand for "my father's so far fucking gone, he ain't never comin' back..." trough the lens of his society, his education..the woman it is almost like an object, the dialog it is a mirrow like moment of sincerity, yes also ment to seduce her but it stand to reason it is more a monolog.

What are you talking about, his voice always sounds like that unless he's trying to pull off a fake southern accent (ie: Little Boy Blue; Stop Loss, etc)
