so basically the whole year everybody screams that videogames make you stupid and agressive, but what you see here is helping the world!! Never shall a politician say anything about games being bad anymore.
This question probably by default overshoots your competance as an unignorant human being, not expecting a decent answer im going to be arrogant.
What are the machine specific components utilized for this demonstration. If you could ask your local Information Technology specialist what the "System specs" for this machine is i would be surprised in awe, and grateful. And remember, acedia is a mortal sin.
And why would this be usefull!? I rather sit behind my pc and doing everything with the mouse then having to stand up and waving my hand around until it works
@wctje777 Its called convergence. Imagine using this type of UI with a binocular AR solution, the model would appear to float in mid air and in 3 dimensions.
@dextanity23 so you are saying that a 3D interacting image is the same as this "magic stick" waving at a screen asif its a mouse xD you are making cheese with peanutbutter here
Interesting work, the Kinect has for sure some potential in medicine. We did something similar end of last year within the Virtopsy project, additionally, you might want to take a look at the Gestix system, which is already some years old and uses a standard camera.
Josh, I am continuously amazed at the work you are doing at WFBMC. My son, Alex shared this video with me. Wonder if he is trying to sell me on the importance of perfecting his video gaming skill to his college career. :-)
@boulabiar As he explained in the video, a mouse and keyboard are not acceptable for use during surgery as they are most probably contaminated and hard to sterilize. A touchless interface would be ideal.

We have own solution for Gesture Recognition Interface with Stereo Camera.
We don't use prime sense solution as laser sensor.
Our New solution doesn't have Calibration step and Skeleton that mean it is easy to apply any general purpose usage.
Get in my place!!

So basically it's just using the Kinect as a mouse. It really doesn`t have anything to do with the CT Software.

Interesting work.
We are working on a similar project. We have now integrated a fully featured gesture control interface on a DICOM viewer:
