Actually, Missingno is a Beta Pokemon used to test the Pokemon system out (Pokedex and Pokemon battles). That's why Missingno's Types are Bird (Which is was the beta for Flying types) and Normal. Missingno is also misused data for Pokemon, so it's number 0 in the Pokedex.

no it is not a gameshark glitch it's a side effect of catching missingno. it will give you 127 copies of the item that's on the sixth slot of your inventory. also it will corrupt your hall of fame with glitchy caracters, pokemon that u did not use to defeat the elite four (and this includes mew)and background music will be all glitched up.

btw, for those who think the original Missingno (talk to viridian guy and fly to cinnabar) is harmful, don't. The only harm it does is mess up your hall of fame. Only the gameshark Missingno's or other various glitches mess your game up (ex. erase data). The original will only mess up a few graphics here and there, nothing to major to fear.
