  • @ESDLatinHeat this is called 'webcam delay' :P

Trust me i ain't no salsa freak but I know a little about music and having seen this musician playing right in front of me,i can tell he aint fake...AT ALL!!!

  • @ESDLatinHeat its not fake, its just the sound not matching the video

  • You aren't playing..maybe in your dreams...if you like salsa, learn it. bass mimic.

  • @luchol007 I invite you to listen to Orquesta Ceiba's album on wich I written and arranged half of the tunes, played bass, and mixed.

  • que buena ejecucion del bajo me gustaria saber las partituras en el bass

  • What a sweet line. You're a great player

  • hijueputa como eso suena de bueno, you´re like me you´ve got the groove,, I have a firend here in Medellin who is from holand and she plays the trumpet in salsa and I am learning the bass and asked her for the tip and she told me that if you have the swing the sabor, the rest comes naturally!

  • Much respect to You Slikk Tim,you have the groove, whether its in Funk and or Salsa.Myself im a Timbalero from Germany and knows how important groove is.The people in germany dont understand this, this is why a lot of salsa bands over here sound like shit.I think the french people in Europe are the only ones who have the RIGHT feeling and understanding for Salsa Music.Come over here and teach these Bass Players something about syncopation ;-) .Respect man.Osita.

  • te la comiste mi pana

  • Check it out--The dude singing is Carlos Santos and if I'm not mistaking he is still active and resides in Tampa, FL--Check it out---Great song===

  • man french people like it because Yuri Buenaventura*salsa singer from Colombia took salsa there probably 15 or 20 ys ago. Slikk tim guy plays better than many latino bass players. hes more latin than latinos ....awesome. Ur my new teacher...

  • wow ! I'm so humbled ! Still have a lot to learn myself... but you're right about that Yuri Buenaventura thing. Plus France likes jazz music and has more latin roots that say germany or britain so no wonder that salsa did catch around here. :-)

  • we love it ! :D

  • Damn man this is nice! Good job, I don't play bass, I'm mainly focused on the percussion side of salsa but as u mentioned, this bass line makes me want to get up and dance! Good job.

  • Órale Slikk!

    THAT'S how you do THAT!!!

    Great performance!

  • good, but i prefer u playng get on the floor ;)

  • Different strokes for different folks ! Like different drugs, you get different highs from such different, but powerful music.

  • Hello Slikk Tim, I have subscribed to your videos cause I wanna learn this rhythms on the bass they're so cool and you're the best bass player on the tube.. thanks for sharing....

  • Cool man, maybe I'll do some quick'n'dirty salsa 101 !

  • I know this song for like 20 years and I'd never noticed the bassline was so complicated...as you say, that's characteristic of the great arrangers AND the great musicians. On top of that, this song has great lyrics too...classic salsa of that caliber is among the most complete music genres of the world!

  • damn straight ! I wish more people would recognize the incredible quality of puertorican music.

  • Puerto Rico appreciates your nods to our music. BTW guys check out "cuando uno se enamora". its sick!

  • Heyy do you something in ARES

  • Beautiful groove!!! I just recently discovered your videos. You have great talent. This song is just superb and you really fit right in the pocket of the salsa groove. Great tone and rhythm. Thanks for sharing, Tim!

  • Hey Tim,good skills man .What you get out of this bass man,its good.On an upright or baby bass you would kill it,because you got veeeeeeeeeeery good bass playing skillz man.

  • I hear a baby bass being played in this song and you have an electric bass so what gives? Some type of secret technique? Also The delay in this video does not help judgement.

  • Watch Slikk Tips #1 ;)

  • Great music and bass playing---but fix the delay in the video!

  • YES @ 0:35!! Had to sign in and vote 5 stars for those notes alone. Love your groove too.

  • heheh yeah that substition is right on

  • I didn't realized this piece it was that complex. You're a great player

  • Thanks a bunch man, this piece is complex but you don't notice it until you pay attention. That's the trademark of master arrangers.

  • Très chouette, comme toujours, man.

  • Bass, the heartbeat of Salsa... Excellent performance... Its amazing how everything just goes perfectly together in a good salsa arrangement....

  • Well thank you. Great salsa from the 70s is incredible arrangement wise. There's a whole lotta things goin on yet it stays so clear and danceable. The over-arranged salsa dura of the early 90s is unbearable to me. It sounds like the arrangers would try to cram as much horns licks and rythm unisson riffs as possible in a 5 minute song... Not that good for dancers.

  • Hey Slik, it's funny you say that about the arrangements. I used to do sound for a Salsa club in San Francisco. Whenever they played older stuff, it just felt more natural and everybody would get lost in the music and heat and sweat and fog of the club. When they played neo-Salsa junk, which rarely happened at this particular club, the dancers would get distracted and complain. When dancing to a great Salsa band, it's easy to stop paying attention to the band and get lost in the dance.

  • Hey man this is old school...I love it. great work

    Jimmy

Check out my some of videos at jazzyjim53

  • Yeah!!! Salsaaaaaaa!!! i loooove it!!

    question:

Does bass players using in latin or jazz a fretless bass guitar? i mean ive never notice they using frets.

  • Actually most Jazz and Latin electric players use fretted fenders.
