  • Nobody chased away the current squatters. They moved when the call to move was made, that is why no force was used. In fact there was a report that these were professioanl squatters that went to the sites during the day and slept elsewhere.

    However, the Ogiek need to be considered for genuine resettlement, but not the later land "owners", big or small

  • while I feel for these people and the circumstance they are in-it appears not that different from say 30% of Kenyan people. Since there is no political mileage to be made of them-nobody talks about them. Do you hear any disgust about street children? about Kibera and other slum dwellers? These most vulnerable groups are not new to hunger and abuse, many are homeless or live in unworthy homes...any politician willing to shout on their behave?
