Any cop should know the weight of his gun when its loaded and unloaded. Also he should have checked the gun first. That is the first rule of gun safety, check it every single time a gun is handed to you. He also should not have dry fired the gun. He could have shot one of those kids. The only thing he did right was never unintentionally aim it at anyone.
