As a German one knows the typical stereotypes others tell about oneself abroad.

Most of them are really supid and - to an extraordinary percentage - incorrect.

But these stereotypes here are somehow different, not that plain - and I can tell you: Here it seems like a high percentage of the stereotypes introduced is correct, at least partly! ^^

Most of these are just plain stupid. Now if you say 'Germans can't take a joke' - fine. I can't laugh about false stereotypes about my country anymore. Sad thought, a lot of people still think Adolf Hitler is our chancellor........ which is a bit like saying 'George Washington is still president of the US'. A lot of people still call us Nazis. I really like the vid(and I am german) of cause it is a bit overdone but thats steriotypes always are. I really had to laugh at some points, because it reminded me to some people.

And of cause we weren't defeated by France in the WW2(WW1 neither), France was beaten in 6 weeks and the Americans had to free it.

Oh and to the nuclear: We get the electricity and the French the nuclear waste, good deal don't you think so?

these stereotypes aren't all true either, but rather more intelligent than the typical ones, so they get closer to an image of the "average german" - if he exists.

I really liked number 9 with the nuclear power stations abolished and then buying electricity in france.. in a way reality is similar ^^ but we show the will to have it all from regenerative energy ;)

and point "zehn" is true either.. in a way. of course hitler was austrian and you can forget about italy - except for holidays ;)

the only complete wrong thing is, that germany imports electricity from other countries.

Germany is one of the biggest power exporters in europe (more than france)

There are countries that make precautions knowing that fossil fuels will reach their end in 2020 and there are countries that also take precautions knowing that uranium wil reach its end in 2035

That one with the national anthem is a popular fallacy - even in Germany. In fact the complete "Deutschlandlied" with all 3 strophes is the German national anthem. But there is a decree by Konrad Adenauer which says that only the 3rd strophe should be sung on ceremonial occasions. It's not culpable to sing the 1st or 2nd strophe.

With the national anthem? It's not really problematic because there are some verdicts but there are so many people still believing that it's forbidden to sing "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles" (Germany, Germany above all).

There are so much rumours and there is so much superficial knowledge about the third Reich. Same thing about the Fraktur (old German font): The people think, it's typical NS although Hitler has banned it in 1941 (he defamed it as "Schwabacher Judenletter")!

Almost true, but that changed with the reunification. From the reunification on, only the third part is the national anthem.

But it's still not forbidden to sing the first two, that's right.

Point 1 and 6 are a contradiction and Germany borders Austria and Swiss in the south, France is in the west.

Hitler was in fact from Austria and got the german citizenship later. The french army was beaten and did not really take part in the conclusion of the 2nd worldwar. The ones who overpowered the Wehrmacht were the Russians(former naziallies) and their masses.

There were several sterotypes which fit me quite well, whereas I am not a friend of the shutdown of nuclear powerplants.
