GM generally uses the higher displacement pushrods (LS7) and Ford went with boosted small displacement OHC's (blown mod 5.4 4v). (in general). Domestic > Import.

@THRstang whoa! 475rwhp and you spent 30k. something is wrong here. how much does the car weigh? car has to weigh about 2600 lbs for 475 rwhp. i don't know where you're getting your numbers from, but in tx that's a 11 sec car. 345 rwhp is an 12 low 13. post some vids of it running low 10's. 30k should be running 9's on motor maybe lower and 8's on the spray. just my opinion, but i do like the car. maybe dyno numbers wrong. should be around 550hp

OK, Do a little homework and check out the NMRA Pure Street Class. 310 cubic inch limit, 10:1 comp limit, .500 lift cam limit, factory body & supension restrictions, and must weigh 3200. They make 400+ HP all motor (N/A) and run low 10's with hyd roller combo's. We have a hi compression 347 stroker with a solid roller that rev's 8k rpm. I shouldn't have to explain how suspension and average HP/TQ across the RPM band make these combo's run the numbers. Learn the basics dude...
@THRstang i know the basics. i got a buddy that has a 331 high comp motor 11:5, best heads, solid roller, 620 lift cam, 8k rpm with 540hp running mid 10's in a 2800 lb car. he has all the suspension work. it will hook in water. where are you getting your numbers? the trans also plays a factor also. so does gearing.
Finally, someone who understands that not every motor and HP number runs the same. There are a ton of other factors other than the parts and weight of the car. We're running a much larger and better AVG HP/TQ Custom Grind Cam, so it's not just the peak numbers, but the avg power across the band that makes this little coupe run. We also have a 4.56 gear and a custom FacePlated TKO trans with alternate gearing to make this run lo 10's N/A. Sounds like you're buddies car is sick too!

You are reading too many magazines. Victor LSR heads outflow all of your SBF aftermarket heads 450+ CFM. Also, SBC SB2.2 heads flow over 400+CFM and are cheaper than CHIs.
Who cares and you noticed who owned in this video right? a Small 302ci Stroked out compared to a 396-454Ci BB that is probably even stroked out. And tell me this how come every GM motor in Nascar has to get replaced after every race and Ford and Chrysler can go 3 races before replacing the motor in their race cars? It is because they have quality over quantity. And FYI CHI heads has a 3500LB Fairmont 4 dr sedan running 9.7's with a 429Ci with their heads and intake with a Holly carb.
Also if you go to Jon Kaase's website just see some of the records his motors have set. And honestly who cares how much the heads are that he uses in the competition it is to see who the best of the best engine builder is and he my friend take the cake by far. You could just imagine how much more power he would get out of that 400M if it was a full roller motor. Also Dart Heads are around $3000 and his heads and CHI heads are far superior for any BBF and SBF heads all day.
I could even use their cast iron 3V 225cc heads and still see amazing results with their heads. With a full cast iron block unlike your all aluminum LS1 346Ci ;
We have 6-bolt, cross-bolted main cap iron blocks that come in our trucks and our stock heads like the LS3 and the L92 flow better than most aftermarket heads. Also, GM fuel injected cars are tune friendly and can run on the street with a huge cam.

There's no replacement for displacement!!!!!
I am just saying do some research and the only slightest advantage your car has is an all aluminum V8 but once you over heat it one time you're fucked. I can run a full cast iron 351W and get easily 500- 550Hp if built right with around 12:1 Compression and 700HP with a 408 Stroker. I have an iron LSX based long block laying in my backyard that I picked up for $500 at a local junkyard. Also, I never had overheating problems or known anybody with an LS1 that had. It will not be 10 yrs but it will take some time because I am in college right now and I got to worry about that as my main priority right now. But once it is done it will easily have 600+ with no problem and between 750-790Hp with aluminum heads and intake.

The thing is, the GM products run almost 70 cubic inches more then the 281 Ford, yet you GM people think you did a proud thing beating out one of them. the ls engines get better mileage than the mod motors do and they're lighter with helps with mileage too.the ls engine is superior to the mod motor in every measurable category.
the ferrari 430 has a 490hp 4.3 v8 and get 11/16mpg
the physically smaller,lighter,easier and cheaper to make,mod,and service 505hp 7.0 v8 in the z06 gets 15/24.even the supercharged 638hp 6.2 in the heavier zr1 gets 14/20.the lower power,smaller engined ford GT got 12/19.
I want to see a Mustang beat my slow LS1 on motor alone. 10.02@132 346ci w/stock LS1 heads/bottom end, and there are people running better times with a higher trap speed than me.

I wouldn't say my dad was broke when he was making $40 an HOUR + TIME AND A HALF after 8hrs in a day working for the Alaskan Pipeline, And then he got laid off and we moved to FL then was making $150,000 a yr starting out in Truck Driving. So yeah you can say I always lived in a nice house and they always had nice cars, But when I was old enough to work a JOB my dad made me buy my first car with none of his help at all. @THRstang whoa! 475rwhp and you spent 30k. something is wrong here. how much does the car weigh? car has to weigh about 2600 lbs for 475 rwhp. i don't know where you're getting your numbers from, but in tx that's a 11 sec car. 345 rwhp is an 12 low 13. post some vids of it running low 10's. 30k should be running 9's on motor maybe lower and 8's on the spray. just my opinion, but i do like the car. maybe dyno numbers wrong. should be around 550hp

2 Diff Cars, let me clarify. Check THRStang First off, this is another blk coupe that i have. It's a 347 with 345 rwhp runing 11's in street trim at 4200 ft elevation. (That's 10.80's at sea level!)
Secondly, the black coupe for $25k runs low 10's on motor, has 475 rwhp all motor, and about $30k in parts alone. Do the math, a low 10 sec car for $25k turn key with it's build components is a diamond in the rough. For more info check our other vids for the twin to this one.

OK, Do a little homework and check out the NMRA Pure Street Class. 310 cubic inch limit, 10:1 comp limit, .500 lift cam limit, factory body & supension restrictions, and must weigh 3200. They make 400+ HP all motor (N/A) and run low 10's with hyd roller combo's. We have a hi compression 347 stroker with a solid roller that rev's 8k rpm. I shouldn't have to explain how suspension and average HP/TQ across the RPM band make these combo's run the numbers. Learn the basics dude...

@THRstang i know the basics. i got a buddy that has a 331 high comp motor 11:5, best heads, solid roller, 620 lift cam, 8k rpm with 540hp running mid 10's in a 2800 lb car. he has all the suspension work. it will hook in water. where are you getting your numbers? the trans also plays a factor also. so does gearing.

Finally, someone who understands that not every motor and HP number runs the same. There are a ton of other factors other than the parts and weight of the car. We're running a much larger and better AVG HP/TQ Custom Grind Cam, so it's not just the peak numbers, but the avg power across the band that makes this little coupe run. We also have a 4.56 gear and a custom FacePlated TKO trans with alternate gearing to make this run lo 10's N/A. Sounds like you're buddies car is sick too!

You are reading too many magazines. Victor LSR heads outflow all of your SBF aftermarket heads 450+ CFM. Also, SBC SB2.2 heads flow over 400+CFM and are cheaper than CHIs.

Who cares and you noticed who owned in this video right? a Small 302ci Stroked out compared to a 396-454Ci BB that is probably even stroked out. And tell me this how come every GM motor in Nascar has to get replaced after every race and Ford and Chrysler can go 3 races before replacing the motor in their race cars? It is because they have quality over quantity. And FYI CHI heads has a 3500LB Fairmont 4 dr sedan running 9.7's with a 429Ci with their heads and intake with a Holly carb.

Also if you go to Jon Kaase's website just see some of the records his motors have set. And honestly who cares how much the heads are that he uses in the competition it is to see who the best of the best engine builder is and he my friend take the cake by far. You could just imagine how much more power he would get out of that 400M if it was a full roller motor. Also Dart Heads are around $3000 and his heads and CHI heads are far superior for any BBF and SBF heads all day.

We have 6-bolt, cross-bolted main cap iron blocks that come in our trucks and our stock heads like the LS3 and the L92 flow better than most aftermarket heads. Also, GM fuel injected cars are tune friendly and can run on the street with a huge cam.

So what my N/A LS1 can beat that BBC in the vid and I can do in it with my stock bottom end (346ci), ported factory heads, a power robbing automatic and a heavy 3080lb car. Most big block cars will outrun my car, it doesn't matter if is a Mopar, Ford or Chevy. The one in the vid runs ok, but is not even close to its full potential. There's no replacement for displacement!!!!!

I am just saying do some research and the only slightest advantage your car has is an all aluminum V8 but once you over heat it one time you're fucked. I can run a full cast iron 351W and get easily 500- 550Hp if built right with around 12:1 Compression and 700HP with a 408 Stroker. There's no replacement for displacement!!!!! lol yeah until you get owned by a small block v8 stroked out; Also once I get done building my 351W it will own BB v8's all day.

I have an iron LSX based long block laying in my backyard that I picked up for $500 at a local junkyard. Also, I never had overheating problems or known anybody with an LS1 that had. It will not be 10 yrs but it will take some time because I am in college right now and I got to worry about that as my main priority right now. But once it is done it will easily have 600+ with no problem and between 750-790Hp with aluminum heads and intake.

The thing is, the GM products run almost 70 cubic inches more then the 281 Ford, yet you GM people think you did a proud thing beating out one of them. Nobody ever seems to mention the huge cubes difference. GM = egomaniacs. That's a pretty good laugh. As a final note, there are quite a bunch of Stangs out there eating up Cameros and Corvettes alike, get used to it.

GM's financial problems are directly related to lack of sales. One of the reasons their product isn't selling is because of the reason I mentioned, "they are stuck in the stone age". In these days with the perception that we are facing an energy crisis, it's apparent that people want smaller cubic inch fuel efficient powerplants, that respond well to bolt on's, vs large cubic inch inefficient pushrod motors that need the additional cubic inches to draw similar power.,

the ls engines get better mileage than the mod motors do and they're lighter with helps with mileage too.the ls engine is superior to the mod motor in every measurable category.
the ferrari 430 has a 490hp 4.3 v8 and get 11/16mpg
the physically smaller,lighter,easier and cheaper to make,mod,and service 505hp 7.0 v8 in the z06 gets 15/24.even the supercharged 638hp 6.2 in the heavier zr1 gets 14/20.the lower power,smaller engined ford GT got 12/19.
