were i want to be in the future, What can i do to help increase the chances into getting into this college and working at a company that i want to work at. Thank you
i am a sophomore in high school i am taking ap/honors art and i want to be a game design developer. i am just wondering if taking advanced art will help me in reaching that goal, i have always had a passion for game design and wanting to make them and to work for a big game developing company like Bethesda or 343 industries. i am making grades along the line of a (b - Average in all of my core classes and i have an A in AP art.) i am just wondering am i taking the right path to
I am attending Community College right now and they just don't offer what I want. I want to be a game developer but I have no prior knowledge about it. I've never done any programming or designing... I want to attend your college, but I'm afraid that I don't have what it takes.
Hi can this program teach you how to create your own video game for the computer. For example runescape or minecraft? and also how long will this program be open for?
@ISOPHSReturn You can major in gaming, and do a minor in computer programming (which we have a couple flavors of here, CNS, WIS, etc.) - it's really up to you on how you want to handle it, and how much you can handle.
The best thing would be to make an appointment with one of our Admissions and Advising folks. Here's the phone number for you:
@ISOPHSReturn - well, are you asking how to be a computer programmer or how to build out gaming computers (as in the machines themselves)? These are two different disciplines, they do have crossover, but they really are two different paths. In our Game Design and Development Program, we primarily focus on the software development and design aspects of building games, simulations, and "virtualizations." Eventually, we would like to incorporate the hardware aspects as a course or line of study.
i have a question. Do you have to absolutely need to bee good at math to be in the game developers path?? Because i barely passed algebra.. and if so what classes should i take to get there?
Math skills will definitely help, however we have math courses built in to get you up to speed. We also have an awesome Student Success Center to assist you if you want help - whether that means writing papers, math, science, most of the basic/core general education courses are covered in the Student Success Center.
The multimedia and gaming software listed below represents what is included in our College of Technology labs for use in developing games:
MULTIMEDIA
- Adobe Creative Suite Design & Web Products such as Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver
- Cinema 4D
- Final Cut Studio
GAMING
- JavaScript
- Unity Game Engine
The product and versions may change as industry changes occur. The College of Technology strives to maintain the best technology it can offer concurrent with the industry.
