Wow, that charging hand on the left side is a very cool and functional mod. The first time I saw this video I had to rewind because I own an AK and I was like how the hell is he charging it like that?! Very cool. Never saw that before.
The AK Lightning Bolt and the AK Lightning Lever are BOTH 922r parts. Our US international distributor US Tactical Supply handles all of our ITAR stuff and this is considered a part heavily modified enough to be a 922r part.
Man I love that AK you have there! Any ideas on a sticky bolt? I've seen a couple vids on grinding/filing this or that. Mine sticks and I need to fix it before I rely on it you know. If I was still in the Springs I would just drop by.
@z71ty it's a safety issue for you, the operator. you never want to take your hand off the pistol grip. that split second off that grip and a bad guy can come around the corner. it's a tactical thing. they harp on that a lot in the Marines.
Basically this makes the weapon ambidextrous. I'm a leftie and personally love the way AK is set up. I held one and did a few drills. Never felt like it needs mods. Training with the weapon is the key to working the weapon fast and efficient. There is no need to modify the weapon. Learn is in a config that manufacturer intended as chances are that if you get one on a battlefield and you are used to a custom jobbie, you'll be in trouble and need to learn it all again fast as your LIFE hangs on it

@nureese thats part of the design on the shorter barrel AKs im fairly sure, its helps them cycle easier. i sugest you read up on them because thats all i know

And you might want to try and replace your gas piston, that's what I had to do for my WASR.

Does the charging handle on the Left side also cycle with the bolt when firing?

Just don't rely on the safety. Don't want to shoot don't touch the trigger. If a round is in the chamber nothing in front of that muzzle is safe.
