  • thats becase the pole got magnetic properties as well try the same ting with a plastic pole

  • urrgh .... my brain....

  • ufo use magnet technology!

  • be cool if that was adapted into a car suspension system

  • @MrTorrencio was about to say that :P

  • Can i ask the question... If i had three setups like this sitting in a model kit WITHOUT the pole constraining the washer, would this work to levitate the model with no anchor?

  • Sir... could you at least get to know my mind as a person before you FUCK IT LIKE THAT? OR T LEAST TAKE IT TO DINNER BEFORE YOU BRUTALLY FUCK IT?

  • Its called the null zone

  • Want to see a levitating plant I created with magnets-type in levitating plant-YouTube

  • maybe because of the south pole magnet in the middle?

  • @MrArty303

    no.. because of washer..

  • @azefilippo

    Banana.

  • It might be possible to catch an armor piercing bullet (normal bullets are just lead), firing it over a massive and incredibly powerful magnet. They tried deflecting bullets with magnets on the show and it required several super powerful magnets.

  • Am I listening to Michael Caine?

  • @azefilippo gravitation

  • anyone else get a mormon.com ad next to this video?

  • ___ w w w diymagneticmotor com has interesting PLANS~

  • Magnetic lollypop

  • we can use the earth gravity an create an electric motor

  • mate you need to get laid FAST!!!!!!!

  • tagliati le unghie schifoso!

  • FUCKIN MAGNETS, HOW DO THEY WORK?

  • Ma fammi il piacere!!! cn la matita siamo capaci tutti!

  • Hey eltimple, the pole where the magnet ring is shoved on you should replace it with a non magnetic material such as syntethics.

  • wherever you are.. i wanna be there

    sounds like a nice vacation

  • Its trap between / along a boundary of two opposite charges. Try tracing out the magnetic field created by the assembly of magnets including the magnetic field induced on the metal base and steel pole. You will find out that the magnet levitating is trapped between opposite charges. You will be fooled if you think that the levitating magnet is only in opposition with the magnet assemble at the base.

  • haha very funy the thing you glued on top is a magnet with the north pole facing down on to the other magnet nice work using glue by the way... well either that or simply because the north pole wich is faceing upwards (north) is magnitising the metal wich would explain why it hovered=? either way its nothing new

  • Lol that's sexy mate. Endless applications.

  • Fuckin' magnets! How do they work?

  • The central axis is essential. Without the rod to hold the washer in place, it will never be stable in the direction perpendicular to the axis.

  • its coz the steel has a electric field created in it due to the magnets and that field induces its own smaller magnetic filed in opposite direction.. thus the repulsion.. its eddiy current and lenz's law.. but still, its interesting and looks like somehow u can make a brilliant sex toy outta it. :)

  • nice but there is 1 magnet in the middle whit the s facing up

  • u never know that this could be one of the first steps to magnetic propulsion

  • yes u have discovered the hot water and the walk with the legs !

  • I know why...the Steel above the magnet that is levitated is behaving as a ferromagnetic material. It takes some of the opposite polarity magnetic flux density and creates an S curve where the piece is being held up by both sides of the forces

  • wowo u can buy this in the science museum for a fiver

  • Magnetic vehicle suspension system?

  • @newton3010 yes. i have thought of something like this. but on a bigger scale, replace streets with south magnets, and south magnets in the car. this controles levitation, while there is a rigging system like a plane that shifts the cars wheight causing motion. this is the key to levitating cars! it may fail, but we need to try.

  • The power of the mind.

  • if u removed that pencil or stick thing in the middle i think it would shoot off i'm just guessing

  • is this guy playing with magnets at the beach or something?

  • WHOOPITYDOOOOOOOO

  • the problem with magnets is electrical interference and the cost of insulating sensitive units around them to shield them from the mags

  • use a copper wire...and wrap it around da stick. Im serious.......

  • Trying to force a negative and a positive magnet together is hard, well... with bigger magnets :P

  • Could you do this with electro magnets on the bottom pushing the neodymium magnet up?

  • you know.....if taken to a larger scale, magnetism can be used to replace hydraulic systems....

  • @TouchesYou how so?

  • @HawkSeries well by fixing two nodes of the same attraction to face eachother(i think thats when they repel eachother.....i forgot) it could offer the same if not more resistance than water or hydraulic liquids

  • @TouchesYou how so?

  • WITCH!!!

  • @Kstorm88 burn him

  • Thatd be sweet to put on a whole repulsion magnet body suit and go in a room where the floor and perhaps even the walls are magnetic, and just like jump and float around and shit. think it could be done?

  • @blackestskyline that's my theory for how david copperfield floats. I saw him live, no cables, but i thought it was interesting it was the only time of the entire night he was wearing loose clothing

  • ITS FUCKING MAGIC ZOMG!!!

  • i bet the bottom plate is magnetized

  • Equilibrium

  • you are in gap air with that magnet of those magnets! some kind of zero point modules. Thanks a lot!

  • magnets aren't that amazing ppl get over them!!!!!! yes they make power blah blah blah

  • well yes, your bottom N pole magnets are pushing the washer as its N pole also, its attached to the N pole of the magnet... the S pole of the washer magnet is attracted to the N pole of the bottom magnets! the space between is the mutual balance of both so any change to the space between and the dominate pole will take over!

    simples

  • Comment removed

  • it flys!!!!!! it's a wonder!!!! pray for mercy, god will burn every unbeliever in the world!!!!!!!!!!(haha, just a joke, it will be jahwe!!!!!)^^

  • looks so simple but is so complicated actually o-o (complicated in terms of people who dont know much about magnetism)

  • sweet nutrisystem but i'm not fat

  • Use Angles, Mostly from 10 to 30 Degree and then you will get a better result :-)

  • i bet you could make a weapon with that.

  • lenz's law?

  • O_O!!! You solved a problem I had when I was constructing my maglev train design!

    OMG!!

Thanks a lot! PM me if you want to know more.

  • one magnet pushing, five pulling. the result- magnetic equilibrium. nothing special. though still fascinating.

  • fucking magnets how do they work

  • @kibrorgat Its magic! :D

  • I don't understand any of this. I'm not sure how I got to this YouTube video. I think it had something to do with Ratatat. I wonder if I have dementia. I presume that is related to the brain. Where are my car keys? Doe's anyone know when they plan on releasing the sequel to the last Hulk movie reboot? I need to clean out the garage later, but wonder if there are any snakes in there like last time. Doe's anyone know a good website for taking care of snake bites? This one looks particularly bad.

  • are you at a beach why magnets at a beach

  • Wow! That's awesome!!

  • I can see a potential use here.

  • hmmm... I see how you did that. clever, very clever. I would like to try having magnets on the floor + side up and shoes one with magnets on, + side down to the floor. that way I could levitate if the magnets were charged with enough energy. I've been thinking about the way magnets levitate and thought like this: tellus/the earth is cgharged with let's say + magnetic energy and everybody on the surface were charged with negative m-enery. if one were to charge enough p-energy one could fly...

  • fucking magnets, how do they work?

  • how does the mind work? how does anything work? one thing: energy.

  • THAT'S RIGHT YOU GOT IT.

  • Its being pulled from all sides.

  • UFO'S IDEA

  • take the rod off just interested

  • i always found it amazing that magnets do that ever since i was a little kid ive always wanted 2 get like a gigantic magnet and make it levitate x3

  • That's awesome, I've seen a video like this done with a CD and an even stronger magnet that could lift a dishwasher pretty much haha, it's awesome.

  • I believe he said "south pole facing down on the washer and north poles faceing UP on the base" .... makes sense to me. The washer magnet is getting equal attraction power from all sides therefore is suspended. With out the rod in the middle, ANY movement in one direction would collapse the levetation. When I say ANY ... I mean even the smallest of movements would change the level of attraction to a paticular magnet.

    I like it. Good Job.

  • so much viewers for this:p

  • hey there, soldierrg,

I think the reason there are so many people viewing this is because this provides us with the hope that we might be able to move to forms of energy production using magnets that use frictionless rotation around vertical or horizontal axes, allowing for maximum energy capture, storage and use for our power needs... :) A great concept and something that many, including yours truly, are already experimenting with. Of course, this will use stronger magnets than shown here.

  • bull shit you just placed a magnet in the middle faceing on the south side .... how stupid do you think people can be

  • He clarified that..

  • wow, that IS interesting! lets fuck!

  • @leirgauk lmao...:-)

  • very cool. try this without the rod and it makes more sense

  • Great! Man can create things that can levitate.. Man can also create robot that walk on water. Watch on youtube: NEWEST ROBOT THAT WALK ON WATER

  • magnets are quite magical. think god wanted to eff wtih our minds by creating them.

  • Just started playing with magnetics and noticed that weird things happen when the magnet is attached to something (steel, iron, etc). The magnetic field is extended, any you can't really find any info on this.

Your experiment is way cool, I would like to see a 3d version of what the flux is doing. wow.

  • the magnet repels the ones on the bottom but they also attract the metal thing you placed on the one facing down... did that make sense? heheh

  • in this way the antigravity spaceships works?

  • thats cool

  • and we still haven't found a way to make flying cars X(

  • I know right? all you need is a bunch of opposite magnets in the ground, then make magnets on the bottom of a car, THEN just make the opposite facing on the bottom, so it repulses and hovers!

  • now here's a guy thinking with his dipstick, Jimme =D

  • And if you wanted to steer, then you could have the magnets on an axis and they would rotate a certain way depending on where you moved the steering wheel :3

  • and to accelerate you can just use wind. cheap efficient and easy. dude I'm going to build a model of it. then i'm going to stick it to the man.

  • You do that :3 I shall await the youtube video of it :D

  • you but i don't know how to make a video on

you tube, just some crappy picture videos where it shows one picture then slides on to the next pic.on windows movie maker <=(

    p.s: started blueprints

  • ya but i don't know how to make a video on youtube just some crappy picture slide video on windows movie maker <=(

  • yeah....and everything out of metal would stuck to the ground.. and you would waste a lot of energy by using turbines...and if the center of gravity is not low enough the car would spin like hell

    but good idea ...

  • Oh yeah... forgot about all of that for a second... and all the people with defibrillators in their body would die D: oh well, so much for that futuristic plan...

  • Uhm, other people have made prototypes of hover cars so you're not stealing anyone's idea...

  • this is perfect for a vertical windpower generator! The washer acts as a reflector and deforms the magnetic field! Try without the washer! Good work!!

  • acutaly he does have it south facing north. the magnets are all attacting the single one in diffrent directions not allowing it to fall to any specific one. thats why id wont fall either.

  • bravo

  • stupid people

  • What a blunder:" this washer has a south magnet facing down, and these magnets have north pole's facing up wards"...........the blunder being, north and south attract, they dont push away,he has two norths or two souths facing towards each other, north and north push away, north and south atract, south and south push away,he does not know which is which....or maybe does not know the principles of magnetism.........a compass are good at telling you which side is south, and which is north.......

  • if all the magnets on the bottom are pulling the sliding magnet in different directions against the pole, it will only go so far.

  • the thingie is just in the magnetic field of the bolts or what it is

  • sean lock.hahaha

  • I think that would be nice for elevators.

  • That's what I thought but, generating power to rise up and down might be a problem. Especially since he mentioned that the thing wants to stay in the "null zone".

  • Nono. I meant to catch the elevator if it drops...because now they have to put something really big under the elevator that it drops softly...but with magnetism (electromagnetism*) its much easier the magnets get stronger and stronger the lower the elevator comes so it lands softly. dunno if it would work but I think if it would they would've already used it.

  • Oh yeah, that might work :)

  • YOu can't see the magnet directly below the floating one? that one has its south pole facing upward so it repels it and the others have north facing up to attract it...but because the southpole one is directly below the floating one its exerted force is more direct and therefore able to counter that of the other five magnets because they arent directly below that one even though they are attracting it. So two fields countering each other with equal force halts all movement.

  • u r exactly rite cowboycurtice

  • I don't think that's a magnet at all, he mentioned diamagnetism, an effect where the magnet will always be repelled. The object in the centre is not magnetic, but a more obscure diamagnetic material.

  • make magnetic vehicle suspension

  • i think he might have magnetized the pole. that's what repels it from moving downwards in the upside down direction.

i don't know for sure though.

  • so if i have this correct in my mind the north pole facing up is attracting the south pole facing down. While the steele washer extends the northern polarity beyond the original magnetic field of the magnet its attached to, which counter acts the attracive force. So a null zone is the point of equilibrium between the attraction and opposition and that's why it will not be completly attracted to the magnets at the base or fall when fliped over?

  • It's magnetic levitation smart one.

  • hey amazing video could you do a tutorial on how to make that little thing? I would love to have one of those on my desk to amaze friends and family! (or to continuously amaze me!!)

  • It's a good video, no doubt, but I would love to see this on a large scale. (Personally I would love to build one on a huge scale, but I live in a apartment in New York City, so I can't have too many magnets around, unless I want my computer and T.V to fry.)

  • We're going to see permanent magnets used for an array of applications in the near future. As engineers we used to believe that energy was limitless so we created wasteful designs at every turn, heating our homes, driving our cars, et al. Now we are looking harder for simple, elegant solutions. Just watch out for your magnetic stripe on your credit card. This little puppy will make easy work of scrambling that. :-)

  • kay. ive seen many go right side up, but not upside down. wtf?

  • The washer amplifies the magnetism on the north cuz thats the side its tuching

  • some pull on it so im thinking u lyed about saying the all are faceing up with the same side so some are pushing and some are pulling

  • no, all same side up, but the steel plate puts the other magnetic pole in the center

  • do you live by the sea or something?!

  • yes

  • thought as much. close your window/door next time

  • @TKISLEGEND No, there was a sea shell over the microphone :-P

  • what if you try it sideways?

  • Maybe it could be used as a suspension system?

  • well thats cool

  • the magnet in the middle is obviously stronger than the others, and the 5 are pulling, the stronger one is pushing, creating that effect.

  • can also be used for birth control. surgically implant a magetic cock ring on the pekeroo, the the same polarity ring on the vergina, they will repel each other tadaa no more unwanted births by stupid poor people. Nobel prize for me anyone want to nominate??

  • @greenwall100 ... LoL ... however this good idea should be extended to all stupid people .... and that is not only poor peoples prerrogative.... so let us say all ....

  • the the magnets are pasing magnetisim to the pipe and that y it stais up cos the bottom of the pipe is south

  • no, its brass and has no effect. it is the steel plate that provides the other pole

  • magnet levitation

  • I know now, how they're ships are built, their "external merkaba" Extradimensional tension is ridden like a wave, repositioning them into the very edge of the 4th dimension where it meets the 5th dimension, and thereby they travel all of time AND space. We exist in between dimensions ourselves. We exist between the 3rd and 4th dimensions, since we can see the 3rd by intuition, and cannot see but the barest sense of the 4th. They skid over the 4th like it were a surface.

  • you sound smart.

  • Cool :)

  • couldnt you apply springs on this some how and cause it to retract back and fourth like a piston maybe. to create motion/energy

  • magnets ALWAYS find a happy center. and will eventually stop. however, if you can find a way to move that happy center that no one has thought of, maybe you can turn the smallest of energy into a very large force.

  • Well, that's a really interesting idea.

  • levitation doesnt impress anyone unless it is without an anchor or guide (like that pencil). Sorry.

  • It kind of impresses me because you can turn the pencil!

Do some levitation to the pencil and you'll have the almost-perfect (:-)) bearing!

  • this is brilliant

  • look kind a cool

  • Hello Eltimple, can you possibly tell us the exact size of the bottom repelling magnetics as well as their class and strength. Also, what is the top washers weight together with the single magnet.

Finally, what is that distance that exists between both sets of magnets?

I am quite curious to know?

    Thank You in advance...........Thunder

  • i think they should make (not me) a room of all the same magnets like 1 huge magnet for 1 wall 1 huge for another wall 1 huge for other wall 1 huge for last wall 1 used for the celing 1 used for the floor n a magnet door.. then they should get like a 100 lb oppisite magnet ball and put it in it seems it would float in the air in the middle some 1 ask myth busters!!!

  • Is it possible to let the magnet levitate without that stick?

  • Well no...not really..It will Levitate but is very , very unstable due to the nature of magnetic fields , their fields reduce by inverse square, or very quickly, so a small movement is a great change in force. Most practical levitation is done via electro magnets that have feed back control to adjust the power of the Electromagnet to the position of the levitated object. Wiki "Earnshaw's Theorem".

  • Is there a way to make the washer self center / without touching the pole or the stick?

  • Possibly, a magnetic bearing based on the halbach array, would keep the washer or ring magnet centered on the shaft, and the magnets as per the video would control centering. , using a halbach here would be good in 2 planes , but very bouncy in the other i , i.e up and down the pole. But that might be aceptable and could be engineered, I am putting together a zero friction passive bearing for my next video. as i am curious just how good or bad it will be..

  • have you ever tryed charing the floating maget positive to magnet and negatinge 2 metal?

  • интересно

  • clever lol

  • shocks !!
